Another fantastic video! Honestly I would of never thought about PRF nor how to use it. Do you generally stay away from medium PRF? If someone is approaching hot but low velocity do you still use high PRF? From what I gathered, as a flanker pilot we play to our advantage - stealth, low flying. We like to flank and get behind bandits. So does this mean more times than not when unleashing the ambush we should be in low PRF? I have to admit I'm one of those guys you mention who don't use my radar correctly lol so this video helps a lot! Ps recently got my first 4 kill sortie :D thanks to tips from your videos !

Sorry this comment escaped me! I use Medium prf for cold or flanking targets :). If someone is hot and slow, I still use high prf. Your advantage is not in flying low, so that would actually do more harm than good. The flanker has great bvr capabilities and the EO system really shines, if you want to sneak up on a bandit via awacs or gci guidance. Lol it's okay, we were all there or beginners at some point. I'm really glad it helped :)

Great video! I just started deep diving into the Flanker and noticed that the radar only has high, medium and interleaved. Did ED do away with the low PRC code setting? Thanks!

Where might I find the Radar Elevation keybinds in Controls ? is it the Scan zone ?

Maybe stupid question, is there a bind to get a quick radar lock on anything your radar picks up? Other than trackwhile scan. I find most of my fights end with me missing or chasing the contact with the box.

Do you mean for close in fights? If so, you'd want to use vertical scan or bore sight mode and hold the lock button.

@@SukhoiGC I struggle after the initial aim120 dodge when i'm still outside vertical and bore range. I'll maybe catch a glimpse on the radar or EO n slew the box but it'll be gone or moved by the time the box catches up

@@SukhoiGC what was enlightening to see was how much of an elevation is needed. I normally wouldn't go over 5 and a lot of time unintuitively would point the nose at a high flying target but my radar was trying to still scan the horizon. Learned that with the stab switch while being RIO. I still don't have a feel for how much but seeing your videos I now have a better sense of what's needed. And also how fast it actually paints. Thought it was slower. Is it 40 azimuth and 4 bars? Or 60-4?

@@deathx0r Yea it is surprising how much elevation is needed! And back in the day, I would do the same thing haha (point my nose up). I'm glad the videos are helpful and its 60° azimuth at a 4 bar scan.

If I want to fly high and fast … Like angels 50k…. How low do I have to point my radar to see the gues flying at 3500 alt. Like when I’m stepping it down I have no idea how the elevation. The f15 and mirage straight tell your scanning in 0 -- 25000 …. This doesn’t te me anything

All the flanker stuff is metric. The elevation scale on the right is how far above or below you that you are looking, in kilometers. So if you're at angels 50, that translates to about 15km in altitude. If you're looking for a target on the floor you set the radar elevation to 15 below. If they're at 5km alt you would set it to 10 below you. Just make sure you have the range of the target somewhere in the right ballpark. Because an enemy 5km above you and only 1km away is basically looking straight up, but if they're 100km away it's almost looking straight forward. Also note that the radar does now tell you scan elevation in the same way. Where Nato aircraft would say you see targets from 1000 ft to 20000 ft, a flanker tells you that the center of the scan zone is at 3000m, without telling you what you see above or below.

@@auqanova I normally fly at Angel‘s 47, but when I step it down it says negative one -2 -3, because most people usually fly Angels 25 and below… Normally they aren’t scanning up that high and can’t see me, so all the people trying to fly below the deck I drop R77’s on, I just hear for every - click down it was 10
