Thank you for taking the time and effort to share this information. Was having major stuttering issues with the F-16 and F-14 modules, every 4 or 5 seconds at times making both nigh on unplayable, yet the F-18, AH64D, KA50 and FC3 didn't have this problem, which was confusing. What was more frustrating was sometime the issue wasn't as bad then same map settings etc it would return. Followed your guidance and it transformed fps and fixed all the pauses / stutters on both the F-14 and F-16. So thank you again.

Hey Spud, I have learnt so much from you and now want to give something back. If you open the World.lua file in Notepad++ you can edit the time and date (located in line 2) and set it to whatever time and date you want for every new mission. The World.lua file is in the following location - Your drive:\DCS World OpenBeta\MissionEditor

Just added a 3080 Ti to my I9 9900 system. These settings rock! The game looks MUCH better, and I got a significant increase in FPS, probably due to my old Nvidia settings conflicting with the DCS settings.

In all honesty I have yet to watch a graphics setting tutorial all the way through to completion for fear of messing up something until now and with nothing to compare this one to, I can't really say "great video". BUT... I CAN say AWESOME VIDEO!!!! I'm sensing that it did something to my PC not so much graphic wise(which were still in my opinion, pretty good to begin with.) I was able to notice right away the smoothness of flight, though I was and still am afterwards clocking 80+ fps via screen and 40+ fps via VR. Smoothness and ease of control in plane automatically became much easier and not like I was always having to fight for control of aircraft during transitional moments of t/o and landing. So with that, I went to next hurdle of AAR which I had already completely given up on. WOW WOW WOW... much THANKS Spud!!!!!

I’m late to the game, but this video was very helpful. Two things that I think make the most impact for basically no hit to performance - design your missions closer to sunrise and sunset. As a photographer, nothing is better than the golden hours, and same goes here. Flying with the sun low on the horizon is magical! The tip to turn down the gamma was the second one that made a huge difference. Everything is much less washed out and has more punch. Thank you!!!

OMG, I just followed this advise and now things run buttery smooth and look great. I did have to kill a few other things but I have a I7 6600 with a 2080 Super and it was ugly and this just made me fall in love with DCS again. power/performance setting on "prefer max performance" just makes clocks your gpu at 100% all the time, even when there is no load. it doesn't just increase your electric bill but also wears out your gpu. the "adaptive" setting is what you expect a normal setting to be. high performance at high loads and idle clock at low loads.

Thanks for this, just got a new rig with an RTX 3080 and this really helped. Still torn on if I use all 3 1920x1200 monitors or just the center one. The side monitors display as if everything is flat across all monitors, something I need to dig into a bit more. Only criticism I had of video and I had to chuckle was towards the end when you were showing the terrain at noon and then described how flat everything looks and basically said "ya, we are just gonna cover all this with clouds" lol. Would have been nice to see the effects of shadows on the ground :)

For those with fps below around 59 or really inconsistent frame rates causing stutters motion blur despite being a lil gross can actually make it look smoother. That’s about the only time I’ll ever use it. Also for fps freaks going full screen does increase performance

G-sync is something I take for granted, whenever I decide to turn it off (usually playing a competitive shooter for a long time) and I turn it back on it just makes everything so much smoother visually.

Thank you for all your very helpful videos, but I could not believe my ears when you said this at 13:47. I got two machines: FX-8350 @ 4,75Ghz and i9-10920X @ 4,8Ghz. Both with an R9 390 GPU. Same GPU bound performance on both machines. And yes, Im waiting for prices to go down and maybe get a 3080ti some day...
