Much respect to the pilots learning to trust each other and their instructor in keeping a calm , reassuring, informative manner. Great Presentation !!

Nice! I was in the 229th AHB back it the 80s...not virtual, of course, and we weren't attached to a cav unit, rather part of the 101st. Cool to see the unit numbers against, even if it's just in dcs.

It was a great practice flight, and it reminds me that I need more practice and more left pedal on landing!

looks like fun - use the trimmer more often, it will totally change the way you fly. i'm constantly hitting the trim button and as a result formation flying is a breeze even with the crappy joystick i have (low resolution and crappy, non precision collective)

Hi Chuck. My name is Bill Richey, I flew with 1st Cav A/229th in VN from 5/70-3/72. Our unit call sign was "Black Bandits" 3rd Saturday of every September the "Bandits" have a reunion. I will pass your great vid. onto our wing. Very well done, in a "Tactical Trail" formation landing in a very tight formation it's hard with the vortex from so many birds was well depicted in your final approach to a "Tac Trail" landing. A great VN painter, Joe Kline, painted a picture of a A/229th formation approach to a LZ that was true to life, yes we held very tight formations, even during a Combat Assault to a LZ and treetop level to the LZ from the FB out of Tay Ninh 13 clicks off Cambodian border in Fishhook area in 3 core. Well done Chuck, very well done. You took me back in time. Thank You

Wow I hadn't seen your post for months. Glad you liked it. Yes, the tac trail is super hard indeed. It just gives me that much more respect for the men who did it in real life.
