If you are impressed with this garbage then you know nothing of history. No MiG-21s flew interceptor missions in 1983. They were to slow and to limited in range. Their missiles were to limited as well. The ‘82 conflict in Lebanon proved that. For this scenario to even begin to get close to reality you would need MiG-23s and MiG-25s and bo involvement with Sweden since they were neutral and not part of NATO…

I was 12 when "Able Archer '83" commenced. I remember watching TV and (I think it was Peter Jennings from ABC News) how afraid I was and how much I hated and despised the Soviet Union and communism. Seeing those Soviet military parades in Red Square were so intimidating. Fast forward nearly four decades, and we have our own citizens calling for communism in the United States. Wow, have times changed.

I dunno man Why do we need to politicize everything related to the soviet union? Agreed. The times were stressful back then and there was a lot of tension around We don't talk about American involvement in Vietnam/Afghanistan below similar videos. Seriously can't we tolerate for once that the Russians are portrayed as the good guys ? I mean we still make games where we literally transfer US war crimes like the 'highway of death' in the first gulf War to the Russians needlessly. Agreed. Communism was a brutal system. But the gulag and the political executions associated with them were shut down after the death of Stalin in 1954 ( that's not me...look at the CIA declassified report in 1955 about the release of 15 American POWs) from that point on the USSR and the US actually have a lot of points in common. The US had their vietnam and the USSR had its Afghanistan. They both played out like rival powers typically do and in my humble opinion this conversation wasn't even needed below such a video. The secret policing and censorship continued in the USSR even after 1954 but that's just that. I think we need to stop hating and wasting our time denigrating a nation that doesn't even exist anymore.
