DCS World - LANTIRN Training Mission - Partial Playthrough (No Spoilers)

In this video I take a quick look at the new LANTIRN Training Mission from Heatblur. The video ends just before a spoiler occurs as to not ruin the experience for you, but in the video we get to see the new Forrestal carrier and a bit of usage of the new LANTIRN Jester AI from Heatblur. Jester had no problem spotting the SAM in the trees because (most) trees are invisible to the AI. Its a barren wide open plain to Jester's eyes. Thanks for the walk through. Redkite's tutorial is great but just seeing how it works in a real mission was perfect. Thanks.

Yes and no, yes he can spot things a bit easier for the reasons listed, but he also has a memory of about 2 mins and talking to HB about it, they think he spotted it on the prior pass.

Ugh, mine auto-aborts the second I get to the range and Jester checks-in with the range controller. I have no idea why, but it's always right in the middle of the radio call. It's not a crash, it's a its mission-end trigger & event of some sort. I have no idea how to use the LANTIRN pod or how else to train with it and thus I have no idea how to use it, no idea what is involved to use it (laser codes?datalink? 2 sacrificial pigeons? A screwdriver???) I really want to to kill ground targets in multiplayer or offline with bombs or those AG missiles.🤔 Anyways, thanks to you Jabbers, I can at least see what to do!! That is appreciated :D

open your comms menu, go to F10, select whichever option you prefer. :-) The options will show up once the message is over.

21:40 it is clearly cheating. there is no way you can find that sam through the trees with this crappy lantirn pod. I bet this plane will get banned on some MP servers..

I talked to grover about this, Jester actually has some short term memory and probably saw that target on the prior run... That said there are limitations to what HB cam do at the moment as they cannot do real time image processing to make jester as realistic as a human, so he can sometimes see things a human wouldn't, just like any other game with an AI. They do what they can and will improve it where possible.

Cheatin' Jester... I'm an SP only player, but I can see potential issues. There should be an option to disable Jester AI for multiplayer, if possible A2A and A2G individually. But I don't think everyone's gonna be upset if the tomcat guys score a few hits more than usual in A2G engagements. The flying computers also have their cheating devices, like JSOWs, boresighted mavericks w/ TGP, HARMs... I just don't think that the ability to spot shilkas in the woods (?!) will put other players at a disadvantage. afaik the player needs to tell jester where to look for units, and most targets (SAM sites, buildings, vehicles) usually don't hide in the forest. As long as this insta-auto-target stuff remains limited to ground units, it's okay for me that HB/ED offer virtual super-RIOs, for people who don't have a human RIO available.
