I swear- ED could hand out $100 in cash to every customer and people would bitch about the amount. I would pay far more than $10 for a remastered Mig-21, Mig-19, Mig-15, F-86 or UH-1. The Viggen is getting there too. The idea that programmers are supposed to to spend 100’s of hours upgrading these modules (something they certainly don’t have to do) but give them away for free is absurd. You bought a module 10-14 years ago…that doesn’t entitle you to free upgrades for life.

My only issue is it's like paying for a mod you have to own it to see it in game that's just putting higher graphics behind a pay wall what happens when you have to buy modules you don't want so they don't look like they are from 2014

Sadly the ATC is still useless. At a completely barren airport (actually several), it took ATC 5+ minutes to clear me to take off. I found it easier to just ignore the controller and roll out. But surely, the ATC AI Behaviour could be a little bit better than it was 15 years ago ? NO ?

M$FS2020 and 24 has impressive scenery that's for sure, but the cockpits in DCS, especially the warbirds is on par or above anything I've seen in FS! Especially in VR! I just dusted off the Mosquito after an absence and that cockpit and it's textures are insane, especially when you consider how old this engine is!

for me the flight models in DCS feel so much better. Somehow FS 2020/2024 do not feel right to me. It is not about aircraft not flying 150 knots when really it should fly 149.5 knots at that throttle setting. Hard to describe why, but DCS feels MUCH better..

I gotta say this update has been quite nice. I still don't think DCS's weather can even hold a candle to MSFS's but we can at least create a believable snapshot of a weather pattern now. Fog, I find, accumulates at the bottom of rain columns which is realistic. Also tends to scale to temperature, time of day. It doesn't immediately stand out when you first load the game so it won't blow you away on the spot, but it helps a lot to tie everything together and create a much more cohesive image/world. It's a step in the right direction and I really want to see ED continue work on these types of things. The sim is already fantastic in the cockpit but the world in DCS World is the weakest link right now. So updates like this that address that problem, I'm all for.

I would like to see the Huey as included in the DCS World free download along with the SU-25 and T-51. DCS has a good stable of rotary aircraft with more on the way (I think). I am impressed with the Pimax VR video, looks great. I do believe a lot of these improvements stem from their work on the Dynamic Campaign which has forced them to improve everything in order to produce the Dynamic campaign. This work is why it's taking so long.

The Fog and ME copy paste drag is fantastic. F-5E looks great. I would pay for an “AI 60s-70s aircraft pack” just for mission creation.

I agree. First time up with the Pimax, I thought it was a whole new sim. Very impressive graphics, and no hit on performance. If anything performance is better, and I'm falling love with dcs all over again. ED is an amazing franchise, and I think they're doing an incredible job on making this a challenging and interesting environment. Sure, there are bugs, but all in all, the quality and responsiveness of this team is great. In my opinion, there just is no competition. Just wish I was a better pilot.

The new F5-E update is fantastic and like you I had some bucks so it cost me around $5.00. Not too bad! I don’t recall DCS ever looking so good or performing so well. I did some free flight in Syria and Nevada and was blown away using the Crystal. This truly is a golden age for flight sims… MSFS 2024 will get there in a few months, but DCS is just… wow.

The new graphics are very pretty, they really knocked it out of the park as far as that goes, basically enhances everything. I won't be getting the F5 upgrade and I don't think it's comparable to previous payed module upgrades. No new features, the cockpit isn't new from scratch, it's the original, reworked with new textures and upgraded elements (it looks nice for what it is).

@@Pricklyhedgehog72 while there was a kind of argument on DCS Discord, a guy posted a GIF comparing both old and new cockpit, like 90% of the 3D models were in the exact same place, you could see that it was the same 3D model, but with a retexture, not gonna lie, the new textures looks amazing the plane deserved it, but they could've been more honest bout the remaster of the plane. I cannot say anything about the external 3D model, but from what i've seen on the discord, looks like ED kinda lied bout the cockpit made from "scratch". Im still thinking about getting it or not, since here in Brazil it's not we are paying (comparing wage to wage), way more than 10 bucks for the remaster.

@@Pricklyhedgehog72I love your channel Prickly - not taking a shot at you. Even if I’m not always as optimistic as you, I like the energy. I know there’s a new exterior. But I don’t spend my time flying in 3rd person. There is no ‘cockpit rebuild from scratch’. The fact that this keeps being stated is false advertising. It’s a retexture job. They should have remodeled the thing as it’s known to have issues in VR. Instead of letting their work talk for them, they have to tell you how many man hours went into the thing. This is no A-10C 2 or Blackshark level of upgrade and that’s unfortunate, it needed it. But never mind, it took 7,000 man hours to make it, so I guess that just means it was time well spent and the product reflects that absurd amount of time spent on it 🙄

I wasn't planning on getting the F-5 upgrade, but with Miles, I was able to get it for under $5, and that changed my mind.. I'm ok with that. The iced coffee I bought the other day cost more than that. As for the new visuals, it's so pretty on KZbin videos, but I'm not sure how much of a game changer it is for me in VR with a Quest 3 and 4070.

Agree on the graphics. IMHO, since the DCS clouds came out, it has had better graphics than MSFS2020 - which was a let down for me. Not interested in the '24 version. It sounds like a hot mess right now too.

We've got a 'thank you' at the bottom of a Newsletter. Of course, I know fanbois who see 3k players on a weekday, but according to every available data, the player base is shrinking year-on-year. It seems that unless you start buying modules multiple times, ED won't be able to make up for my absence. Did you buy Chinook twice, for yourself and in my stead? If not, then literally Excell will note this loss.

This game changer still can do only one fog with a single parameter for its height and density, covering the whole map. I guess, it's good that DCS World is just a name. Funny how it becomes translucent if it is in the shadow of a cloud, but I'm not a licensed pilot so what do I know about a fog?

The new updates in the graphics are epic and well worth the wait. Negativity from areas of the community are often ridiculous- people winging about lack of module updates, some winging about too many modules, those winging about I wont pay for this! Perhaps DCS can become a charity and provide continued entertainment for free. On wait a moment it will go out of business! Seriously people. Most live service games have toxic commuinities, but DCS takes the crown so much that it is insufferable, especially on Reddit with mods like HC Official. I do hope ED will remain committed to their vision, because when they start to yield they will enter in a downward spiral.
