4:13:15 Taking someone's helmet off won't break someone's neck. The problem is the damage done _if they already have_ a broken neck. You can have a broken neck and be fine (as in: not paralyzed) until someone comes and jerks your head around, and _now_ you're paralyzed. There's incidents of people after accidents wandering around for ages with a broken neck, and not even knowing about. It just got misdiagnosed as whiplash. That's why removing the helmet is a delicate process. Not because you can break their neck but because you have no way of knowing if their neck is broken, and you could paralyze them by yanking their helmet off.

If you wish to learn proper emergency first aid for bikers. There is extensive tecahing here on youtube. John hinds RIP ,the "flying doctor" from the TT was THE man in this field. The contentious helmet question is covered in detail in his material. Well worth seeking this training out , there is a paramedic on here who has life saving advice.

Matt, i use a speedglas welding grinding shield. Older model but had the fold up darkening shield part. Very goos, even better when using it with the adflow system.

Just wondering Matt. With all your knowledge of mechanical engineering and what have you, did you ever have the opportunity to work in the automotive industry? Like with any of the major bike manufacturers for example.

I used to work for Perkins. I also did some work for ZF. The major bike manufacturers are mostly not in this country, and that's true of cars as well.
