Ngl I been playing since release in 2011 and skill points have always mattered. It’s what sets DPS apart, it’s what makes tanking easier especially in higher level tier 6 content, and it definitely improves all around survivability. They’re not completely necessary to compete but you’ll always get beat out by someone who has the same gear but higher skill points. I’ve tried to use this logic to justify not grinding cuz I hate it but it definitely is a game changer lol
