if each intake valve has its own rocker and cam lobe. you use the 4.1. if each cylinder uses only one intake cam lobe and one large "bridged" rocker, you use the 4.6. that info was a pain in the ass to come by. but its 100% accurate and much easier than trying to figure out numbers and build dates.

When 1 cylinder intake is max lift exhaust rocker arm is tight on the valve (no play) right?
@CarlosDieselElectric Жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late reply. Use the lobe on the intake to help, so rotate the engine and remember the firing order. 1-5-3-6-2-4 When the intake valve lobe is pushing up on the roller. When it stops pushing but before it starts to roll down. Stop and then adjust the exhaust brake only. I recommend adjusting the valves first. Then checking the exhaust or engine brake after. Makes it easier.

@CarlosDieselElectric2 жыл бұрын
It’s actually not that difficult to do although I have not worked Mack or Volvo engine in awhile. The timing marks are in the CAM, as you rotate the engine you line up the mark in between the hash mark then make the adjustment. But, the exhaust brake does require a shim for the lash. I hope the mechanic did the adjustment correct. But to be sure you should have the mechanic double check or take it to another mechanic. Did the mechanic adjust the valves when the engine was cold or hot?

@@CarlosDieselElectric Hi Pedro. I appreciate you for responding me. Yes engine was cold. I asked him what tools he used. He told me .4mm for intake, .6 for exhaust, for jake brake 4.6mm. But there is a weird sound. Like something is knocking.

@@martinkazako2292 those are the correct clearances for the intake and exhaust. My guess is there a valve that might be too tight or out of adjustment. Have the mechanic double check his work.
