Story time: I really did quit this game for 8 months because of chapter 1-3 - Ilyana and Sothe transfers render the 4-turn easy, but I kept coming up just short. 2 breakthroughs unlocked the 4-turn for no-transfers: the AI manip, and realizing that Edward carrying Micaiah allowed him to be shoved along the wall. We don't understand FE10's AI targeting hardly at all, so no one knows why the archer and fighter give up their kills on Leonardo in preference of non-lethal combat. I was first banking on Edward baiting the archer and Leonardo dodging the fighter, so the fighter attacking Nolan was a serendipitous discovery. It also turns out, purely by accident, that the strategy only works if Edward literally has no swords on his person. If he has swords, even if they're unequipped, the archer kills Leonardo. Why does this make a difference? No one knows.

The only assumption I can make is that the ai must search for if a unit has no weapons in their inventory, probably meant to make the enemies prioritize defenseless units, forgetting entirely about unequipped weapons.

Oh I just realized! It also might be a little chapter specific, because this chapter includes 2 yellow units who will have no weapons in their inventory, and the enemies might be coded to prioritize them by targeting weaponless units.

Beautiful work with the shove and rescue mechanics. FE10 may not have the train options like Fates pair up, but man the amount of things you're able to do with what you're given still is staggering. Love to see it. As for the A.I.? All enemies have either Agressive AI, or Agressive but do not move AI. Just the standard AI that most enemies have. No weird AI regarding yellow units. No unique things that apply only on this map. The AI is still weird, but the same scenario would happen on a different map. The most interesting thing is that there are a few enemies with 1.5 Attack Range Move, which means they aggro on to you if you get within their movement range*1.5. (6 move archer would thus have an effective charge range of 11 tiles (6 move * 1.5 + 2 range for the bow)

1-3 was the map I was looking forward to the most, I absolutely abhor that map on a regular HM playthrough with how brutal it is, and you just clown on it with an absurdly entertaining shove train. Also learning just now you can escape and clear the map if the main hero is being rescued by someone, I never even considered that was an option.

Today I learned you can escape while being rescued to clear the map. It made sense to me that it would work that way, I just never tried nor have I been in a scenario where I've needed to try, so I never validated the idea myself. 1-3 was an absolute slog for me when I did my own very unoptimized 0% run because I tried going left 💀

0:25 I'd even go as far as to call 1-3 the hardest map in the game casually, The trick at 3:30 is really cute and was something I never thought of because I always was thinking that Escape was just seize with another name. but it makes a lot of sense to use 6 move units. The money management on 1-4 is super tight, the thing about forging in 1-4 I've realized is that since DB units have such bad skill and because micaiah has 0 authority stars you often need to forge >15 hit on your weapons, this is going to be really expensive for magic tomes Oh interesting strat for 4 turning the map, you gained a decent amount of reliability but lost the 3k gold. Challenge for today's video, Guess why he forged -2 weight on the thunder tome.

If I had to guess based on a quick skim of enemy stats as someone who has no radiant dawn ltc experience, I'd guess it is so Sanaki can avoid being doubled by one of the many 26 AS Halberdiers and Warriors in 4-3 to either manipulate them to not attack her, or to set her up in Wrath (and possibly Resolve) range

The only thing that could make these clears even better would be a funny forge name for the weapons. RIP Glue Factory. Regardless, what an amazing set of clears so far! I loved the Shove/Rescue chains in both maps. The AI manipulation bit is a mystery to me as well. Maybe the AI notices that Edward doesn’t have weapons and thinks he’s the most vulnerable by design? Idk, RD is such an unique game that it deserves an unique AI lol Can’t wait for more!

Does Nolan have a Hand Axe equipped? Is Edward at base bulk? Those are the main possibilities that I would consider. There might be a stat roll or biorhythm roll on the archer that I wasn't aware of either. But I do think that Edward growing any bulk would change the archer's targeting priority.

@@DD151 Both Edward and Nolan went up a level (I'm not doing it with 0%), although Edward only went up HP and Strength, while Nolan went up everything except defense, and yes, he had the hand ax equipped. In the end I was able to beat the chapter, but it depended on Aimee dodging an attack which made the archer attack her instead of my army, apart from that everything was like your steps.

@@DD151 Well yes, it already happened to me in the first game that Edward gained 1 speed during the prologue and that made the fighter prioritize Nolan instead of him in chapter 1 as in your videos. I restarted, made sure he didn't level up during the prologue and now your strategy does work. Anyway, thank you very much for taking the trouble to respond and advise me, I look forward to your next strategies (Radiant Dawn is one of my favorite Fire Emblem).

There’s a few situations where I do resets to get good rolls on enemy biorhythm, but it’s not as much as you’d think. Player unit biorhythm is nonrandom.

For a long time I was so close - all I needed was just one extra shove. It wasn't like there were several problems that I had to figure out; I literally was only 1 tile short of Micaiah escaping.

No for a long time I was stuck on trying to get Micaiah herself to the escape point, and figuring out how to get 1 extra shove or a defensive formation to block her off from the enemies on the 2nd-to-last turn. The big epiphany was realizing that Edward could carry Micaiah to escape, which allowed him to sneak along the wall instead of going the way that Sothe and Ilyana went (Micaiah can't escape if she goes that way because she would need to be shoved once away from the wall, it's impossible to do that). And because Edward has +1 mov compared to Micaiah, that makes up for "losing" a shover.

I think I make, like, 24 forges over the course of the run? And the forge UI was so frustrating to deal with when recording, especially with the key that I had my down button bound to not working properly. For 1-4 I spent more real time recording the prep menu than the actual chapter. If FE10 forges each were a bit more unique I probably would've named them, but I didn't want to come up with names for like, Hand Axe forge #6 or something. The Glue Factory wouldn't have been as iconic if I forged 6 Wing Spears over the course of FE11.
