I am an Indian music lover, I die for music. though I never lived in India. I was born in Makkah Mukarramah, and lived there till today. It happened in 1987, when Naushad Sahab RH, came to Saudi, I invited him, he was very happy to see the power of Hindostani Sangeet, that even people who never lived in India, are so influenced by Hindostani Sangeet. I even sung a song for him, he was really amazed, that he spoke and recorded some words for me, which I saved it in 1000 copies, and for me those words are the greatest appreciation I could be honored with, no Grammy Award or Oscar Award has any importance to me in comparison to thies words Naushad Sahab gave me.

I met Naushad Sahib a few times. What a saintly musician! A true genius who respected other composers, singers, poets, musicians and audience. So refreshing and humbling to listen to him. I was driving with an American family so I turned the Indian music to some English music but on their request I switched back to old Bollywood music. I was amazed that the parents and even kids liked that and said that this was real Indian music and what they’re doing today was to copy west and there’s no need to do that because if they have to listen to the western music then there’s a lot available on that. Therefore the only survival and identity of Bollywood music is only in traditional and classical music based on ragas. I hope today’s musicians understand this. Hats off to Naushad ji for his memorable creations.
