Tabassum ji, I'm so happy to have chanced upon this video today. I wanted to talk to you about this. Now is the proper time and occasion. All of our family has been a fan of Naushaad and Rafi Saab. In a number of national seminars I have cited "Man tarpat hari darshan ko aaj" from Baiju Bawara as a strong rebuttal of the Post colonial Literary theory that rejects the notion of universality of literature. Here's a Hindu bhajan written by a Muslim, put to music by a Muslim and sung by a Muslim!!!! The final flute at the climax of the song is really a proof of Naushad ji's insight into things. And about you Tabassum ji. You are no less of an "eternal beauty" than Minoo Mumtaz! In fact a classic example of Beauty which "age cannot wither nor custom stale"!!! In Deedar you were riding a horse and sixty years later still you are riding the hearts of men!!!💐💐💐

Naushad Saab was also a GREAT Artist. Even he was a BEST Music Director for him it took Many years to establish. In an animated Version I have seen NAUSHAD Saab had a wish of becoming a Good Music Director in Hindi Cinema. In that Animated Version Naushad Saab's Daddy asks Naushad to choose either Film Industry of becoming a music Director or a tailor's profession. Naushad Saab says to his Dad that he has chosen of becoming a Good Music Director. His Daddy Throws Naushad Saab's Piano in front of his House Yard. What A Terrible and a Humiliating situation for Naushad Saab. Like this He came to Bombay and slept in front of Broadway cinema's Opposite Footpath. we appreciate the singers forgetting the composers,music and lyrics contribute a lot,a singer may sing well but if not well tuned may fail,naushad gave music to lots of superior quality songs,he was a nice singer too but didn't sang publicly

I think even today there are some good quality singers but todays lyricists and music directors are not as good as in the past. That would explain why Lata and Asha are amazing singers but their 1990s songs are not as good as their 1950s songs.

I agree. Either Guide or Do Badan should have won that year, instead of Suraj who won because of the popularity of one song which is extremely overhyped. Rafi Sahab has sung many more brilliant and underrated songs in his illustrious career. There have been many debacles. Madan Mohan ji never got an award. Upkaar and Hamraaz didn't win but Milan did (although Milan had good songs, but those 2 movies had better). Pancham Da didn't get it for Aradhana. And regarding Pakeezah, even Pran Sahab refused to accept his best supporting actor award for Be-Imaan because he believed that not giving best music to Pakeezah was unfair.
