57:54; NO ONE in American cinema could convey more menace in such a subtle and urbane manner than Vincent Price. The softer his voice, the more razor-sharp the diction and enunciation. Charm and menace. An irresistible combination. And the exclusive province of Vincent Price.

OMG, What is this??? I've just discovered this & WOW the star power..Waterston, Price, McShane, Winters, Pleasence & Halloway..I can't believe that I have never heard or seen this movie before, nor did I know of the stellar cast. I gotta say, that with such a cast, they could have made it, somewhat better..

I'm with you! I loved this film the very first time I saw it. It was shown as an evening movie on a local station in Los Angeles in 1976. Your'e exactly right about the location filming too. This was the way I "traveled" the world as a teenager, these types of films and the FIFA qualification matches shown on the UHF channels.

It got harder for them to put out yet another and another cult movie or something alike. Unfortunate but normal. But yeah, the directors are choosing and making the movie first of all Its just a possible normal piece of a wider chritic someone more acquainted with the movie world might know better

I'm wondering which actor got then others to say yes to a D movie script? Or maybe its a free trip to Turkey. Its got bad French accent, and a lot of tropes written or visual. Yeah im voting its the scenery and free trip. A cast for the times having so much fun it helped get the lines out. Donald Pleasance, Vincent Price, Shelley Winters have all proven themselves by this time. Ian McShane, Sam Watterson babes in the woods Sam trying to play it straight. Im trying to stay til the end but not sure I can. All this for a low level oil company employee?

A good cast wasted on an 'idiot plot". It started out as implausible that an engineer would be the target of assassins for knowing something that would have been known already by everyone involved via a simple phone call or international mail. Then it became absurd. You'd think that if what he knew was so important and given that there had been three attempts on his life, he'd be shuttled off to a secure military base and sent back to the US on a military aircraft. Instead, they put him on a ship of spies and leave him to wander alone in Italy. They might just as well have painted a bullseye on him.

@@pressureworks They should have. I worked as a scientist in national security, and I certainly could have helped them make this story more plausible. It isn't a question of suspending disbelief. I have no problem doing that. I loved the early Star Wars films. I'm a Zatoichi fan (he's a blind swordsman who dispatches dozens of villains single-handed). It's a question of having the storyline make sense and having the central characters behave rationally.
