Seems almost odd that the Rev 5 is actually more versatile in terms of supporting different DJ software than the supposedly flagship and significantly more expensive Rev 7 really. Looks fantastic and those larger jog wheels probably feel as good in use as the ones on the flx 10. This is likely a sweet spot product for a lot of people. Mmm, tempting.

The DDJ-REV5 was release over a year after the DDJ-REV7 and has adapted new developments in DJ software technology, including stem separation and Piano Play. With that said, the focus on the DDJ-REV7 is on the sound quality as well as the motorized jogs. Thanks to the shielding and a premium quality digital to analog converter, the REV7 is capable of the lowest noise and lowest distortion from a Pioneer DJ controller. Also, the DDJ-REV7 features high quality phono preamps for both vinyl playback and DVS control, which no other DJ controller in the REV-Series has. Furthermore, it also offers the highest gain microphone preamps, allowing some DJs to use the gain-hungry SM7B microphone plugged directly to the REV7.

I'm a completly new beginner who went ahead and bought the Flex10 to start learning how to Dj, down the road I'm discovering that most of the nice mixes and mushups that i enjoy hearing and would like to mimic from other Djs are made with the rev5 or rev7. Do You think it would be better to return the Flex10 and get a Rev5 instead to make it easier for me to learn and be more flexible and creative?

I just got one and I am really enjoying. One thing I am doing that I am sure if I should be doing is, I power it with my Mac and it works absolutely well! I don't connect it to the mains at all. Any possible hazard to this? LOL!

Too many buttons 😢 I’d prefer something more stripped down. get rid of the piano play, extra effects, combo pad mode, sync and auto bpm buttons. call it the rev2 and sell it for $600.

BIG question… if you have Serato DJ Pro Full License… can you hook up Rev 5 and use Phase for decks 3&4 ? Haven’t been able to get a clear answer on this… I’m assuming it’s a no since it’s not technically a DVS capable device

It’s not possible to use Phase HID with the DDJ-REV5. Phase HID still requires a DVS capable device to activate in Serato, which the DDJ-REV5 is not.

This may Not be the right place to ask but is anyone else having sound distortion issues with the Rev5? after dj like 3hrs the sound gets screechy and distorted. I dont have this issue on any other device.

There is a slight difference in dimension. The REV5 will likely fit the bag since it’s slightly smaller, but we recommend contacting regarding the covers.

I have the Rev 5 and use rekordbox, when I have the synch button on and then use auto bpm button to start the song on the other side, auto bpm doesn't change the tempo. also the Reset button doesn't work. could this be a board defect or a setting. ive tried for 2 weeks to get help on pioneerDj and I get like 2 emails w questions from them and then nothing back. and the pioneerDj forums doesn't work, can you please help me with why this is happening.

In rekordbox, it doesn't behave exactly the same as Serato. Auto BPM transition only affects the deck you are using it on, and not both decks in sync.

Thankyou. I have been fighting my head for months trying to figure it out. Right now i have been pushing sync after the auto bpm and start button is pressed and then turning sync back off before loading a new track. Does this sequence w Rekordbox sound correct? Also does shift reset to get the track on the original bpm not work w Rekordbox as it does not do anything, even w the sync button off, like the button doesn’t work. I have to slide the tempo slider real fast back and forth to get the bpm back to normal.

So, UPDATE on this machine I thought was awesome. However, anyone else trying to record in #serato with the @pioneerdjusa #DDJREV5 #pioneerdj I did 2 recording that wasted my time. While recoding, the songs sound fine. When playing back, the recording parts of the audio either drop out or sounds like the bit crusher sfx randomly in the recording. Of course, Serato has been having me jump through hoops only to update my ticket with repetitive ISH! I told them i used my same M1 macbook and recorded it on the rane one with no issues. So why are they asking me to check for corrupt files, ensure my laptop is optimized for #serato This is AFTER sending a copy of my system report! I think they are using AI for their troubleshooting

The DDJ-REV5 and DDJ-1000 are not in the same category. The REV5 is a 2-channel battle style layout, while the DDJ-1000 is a 4-channel club style layout. To see a unit in the same weight class as the DDJ-1000, check out it’s replacement, the DDJ-FLX10.
