It amazes me how people go to universities and spend years studying movies, analysing storyboards, analysing characters and scenes, work out what kind of filming techniques was used in certain scenes. And then they come out of University and for the most part make rubbish films that contributes nothing to cinema history. But you Tom, you’ve created one of the best short films I have ever seen. The way you raise tension in a scene without any of the engines showing any expression whatsoever, and having to rely on the music, the voice acting and the camera angle to make the scene, and in the end you leave the viewer absolutely disgusted in what Robert has done. I personally think you have created one of the most evilest locomotives in fiction. The fact Robert has no remorse for the things he’s done, even when he’s about to be scrapped really shows what a monster he is. You have done an absolutely fantastic job here Tom, and you’ve got so much movie making talent in you. This is certainly one of your best works so far, and I cannot wait to see what you make in the future:)

Honestly, for a first time seeing anything from this channel… damn. This was something else. Truthfully, I’ve also wondered how Railway Men saw Steam Engines as a living creature, as humans. Humans can be good, but they can very often be dark and evil souls. How could a steam engine be that (well, aside from Dudley)? Robert fills in that gap. It is so clear that he is a selfish engine that, even on death’s door, is still not remorseful nor guilty about his actions, about how he affected others. The dark hum present in the background while Robert sits in the scrapyard, the simple yet effective camera movement… You don’t even need a face on the smokebox door, the voice acting is all you need… Bravo my guy! For Bob to go from the strongest engine on the DR (and indeed in the country at that time) to nothing more than a shadow, for him to then fade from 'legend' to myth . This somewhat had the feeling the Big Bob had finally met his maker, Pogo's presence here is very chilling as he starts with bedside manner before tearing Bob apart and making him see what he had done. I do somewhat feel sorry for him as he was rather poor in his original condition and plagued by it seems to me his hatred built from there Beyer Peacock, The other locomotives calling him fat, Theo and Otto being the 'favorites' of Lord Dark, Mark Dark and of course the war. I'm amazed it took not two but three engines to shift him to Eastleigh! Loved the dialog in this it was played off very well by yourself and Anthony, Bob is now at the end. I'm only going based on speculation and one fact; but from what I could understand, on top of all his other unforgivable actions, Big Bob, or Robert, apparently committed...the "R" word...with that poor engine alone in the sheds. While I am sure everyone is disgusted by what Robert did, from a lore stand point, this only dives deeper on what engines can do one another. Even though they are machines, they apparently have some or even equal actions to what humans can do. Theo & Otto are an example of being the most human an engine can be based on what Pogo described. Meanwhile, Dave & Hannah show how far relationships with engines can go in different means. As for Robert, his spotlight episode shows what evil, twisted, maniacal and unfathomable actions an engine can do that mimics what humans are capable of in the real world. Honestly, this episode has to be my favorite in terms of not only the lore of the Dark Railway & what engines are capable of, but being able to see why everyone didn't like Big Bob and what made him the monster he is. Words can't describe how awesome this series is, and I'm glad to be a fan of it! 10000/10, keep up the amazing work👍

@@dlp2372 Wow, thank you for your comment! I do love the lore we have all built over the years, from theories to alternate takes to the simple history the DR has. As for 'that act', I suppose it's different in an engine's perspective. Remember, we are trying to imprint human characteristics onto machines with linited physical capabilities, so unfortunately some suspensiob of disbelief has to be held for our human traits to be represented by the machines. In other words, it makes for a storyline and for character, but I cannot explain the ins and outs of how 'that act' works in 77C. Bob is unfortunately part of that lore, but it goes to show that its not all sunshine and rainbows around the line. He was a monstr for sure. @@DDJP Personally i like the look of the port, but i feel season 12 is the perfect finale of the series and season 13 sounds cool but i feel series 12 is a nice place to leave the story. but that's a me thing.

Will Mr Dark get to know the truth about Big Bob eventually and is Mark Dark still alive?

Mr Dark might learn the truth one day. As for Mark Dark, he passed away in 1960.

@@DDJP so mark passed before season 1 started?

@hiawathabeast Mark Dark passes at the beginning of the show. In S1 EP04, Mr Dark is away, he is attending Mak Dark's funeral in that time period.

Time for the Monster to meet his maker… Good lord I knew Bob was bad but it just kept getting worse! Makes a backhanded corporate decision look more like a sacrifice!

This is supposed to be a Halloween special not a video that has a lot of conversations in a Lotta Lotta Lotta talking

Eh, it's just the way I roll. Not every Halloween Special has to be action packed. Plus we picked up a lot of lore with this episode, and it fits with Pogo, a mysterious supernatural entity, ripping into a literal monster in Bob.

@@DDJP Honestly to me, see the whole life of bob, it seems he was truly Despicable the whole time, and he merely sank deeper into that pit of sins. He never had a fall from grace, for he was never at any figurative height with which to fall from. He was already at the bottom.
