This is the only city in the world without access to sea which has a mermaid as its emblem. 2/ The OLD TOWN was destroyed by Germans after the falls of the Warsaw Uprising in 1944. It took 20 years to reconstruct this. The Rial Castle was rebuild in 1979s.Money for the rebuilded castle did not come from the Communist government. It came from voluntary donationsbof Polish people.

1970's The Royal Castle. Whole city, about 90 per cent was destroyed by Germans after falling of the Uprising in 1944. 170 civilians were killer during the fight not counting thethe National Army soldiers. After the Uprising the remaining people were expelled and the city methodically blown up, Building after Building as a revange on Poles for starting the resurection.
