Absolute insanity!!! I am still trying to pick my jaw from the floor after seeing this. There is so much action here, there is not a single ordinary module here and there are loads of them. I thought that the previous Ball Factory was amazing and I thought it would be hard to improve it, but version 4.0 is simply on another level... You should consider monetising this, I think that people would be interested in purchasing instructions and building these modules (I know I would).

I've waited forever for version 4, about 3-4 years. I kid you not your video of version 2.0 sparked my entire interest in GBC, and I still today am still trying to build them, I love your work. Side note, I love GBC when the mechanisms are both clean-looking, and open to see.

One small detail I really like is how the containers are placed at the end of the conveyor at Module 02 "Pick and Place Container Loading" To securely move the containers around, the cleats on the conveyor belt firmly grasps onto the containers. But the loader is still able to very easily place the containers onto the belt. Normally, it's very difficult to place something within a gap that has very close tolerances to the object itself. However, since the container is placed at an end of the conveyor, the cleats naturally open up by themselves due to the property of circles and angles. It's a very simple and elegant solution.

It makes me happy when such details are noticed. Inserting the containers on the straight chain would actually have been more difficult and would have led to many errors.

Amazing, you certainly exceeded all my expectations with this one! 🙂You got all pneumatics running in such a smooth way! Love these big ball factories as there's so much to see. Also nice to see that you remain faithful to the same color scheme as used in V1/V2/V3 (love the yellow as accent color together with all the grays & black). Love all 15 sub-modules, but in particular I would be interested in building modules 3 (Ball Loading Station) and of course the big turntable with all supporting modules on the side. Everything looks really neat again in the way how you tiled everything, how all hoses/cables are neatly ordered and how all cycles are operated by several PF switches (as we are used to see from you)! Also great to watch all the moving servo's going back/forth or up/down, instead of being fixed. Thanks for sharing, the construction time of 2 years is fully understandable! 🙂Best pneumatic GBC module out there!

as one startet as a kid whit Lego, now having Industrial Robots and CNC´s, thats a really nice build! I would´ve liked sutch Lego builds as kid. Incredible one, that for shure took some time and effort, not all will understand. I liked how u show so many different styles of handeling. Alsow make me think about if i shuld implement Pellets for interchangign workpices between the robots...

hmmm... I could see adding more than one colour and then logic for the different permutations... where if one way rotates the tray with the 2 balls so when the trays are loaded they are always colour 1 is to the right and 2 is to the left. Then ball remover 1 always removes ball colour 1 only with 2 independent grippers encoded by the 2nd light scanner, and a 2nd ball remover which only removes ball colour 2.

(zumindest ist die Zahl der Ausgänge gleich geblieben) Und wofür benötigst du 2 Kontrolleinheiten? (den Lifter mal ausgeschlossen) Ist das Timing einfach nur leicht versetzt? Ich freue mich auf weitere Videos zu den einzelnen Modulen.

Hi, vielen Dank für dein Kommentar. Ja, die Steuereinheiten sind im Prinzip die selben, nur mit einem leicht veränderten Design. Da ich die gesamte Maschine auf zwei Grundplatten aufgebaut habe um sie platzsparend zu lagern, hat jede Seite eine eigene Steuereinheit bekommen. Das hat auch den Vorteil, dass ich jede Seite separat laufen lassen kann. Das unterschiedliche Timing ergibt sich dann einfach daraus, wann man welche Steuereinheit startet. Der Lifter hat ebenfalls eine eigene Steuereinheit bekommen, weil er auf einer eigenen Grundplatte sitzt und das Getriebe darin nochmal untersetzt wird um die Zyklusgeschwindigkeit zu drosseln, da er ja doppelt so viele Bälle greift wie die anderen Module. Hi Nico, thank you very much for your compliment. I don't plan these machines as a whole, but rather build the modules first or try to implement my ideas and then put all the modules together to form a complete machine. I worked on it for about 2 years.

Beautiful. If you were to try and speed up the automaton, which factors would cause the most trouble? Vibration, power, air supply, synchronization issues?

Thank you for your question. If you shorten the cycle time, or more precisely increase the rotation frequency of the control unit, some modules would not react quickly enough and would no longer move smoothly. For example: The palletizing robot arm cannot move faster because otherwise it would not grip the workpiece carriers properly and would lose them during rotation. The entire cycle time is therefore adjusted to the slowest module. Greetings from Germany, David.

Really cool engineering! How durable are all the moving parts? Friction would take a toll I would imagine. Graphite might lessen the wearing of parts. Or perhaps rig up a lube system with pumps of some kind. I have never done anything like this so, I am curious.

An interesting question. Yes, there is abrasion on the chain links, axles, bearings, etc. But that is negligible, as the torques and forces on the light parts are not very high. I have also never operated the machine for more than an hour at a time. Major wear and tear will probably only become apparent after many hours of operation. But I am not a fan of lubricating the parts with grease or something similar, as I might need the parts for something else at some point. I would rather replace worn parts with new ones.
