You know something’s truly difficult when it drives Jake to save scum: only other thing I can think of where he does is the assault/siege maps from Stronghold 1.

if there ever was a map where there is no shame in using gatehouses as road blocks, it is this one

I’m going to have to play this map now, curse you!! But I’ve been playing with a fun loop idea of a double band housing block to help with awkward maps. Trying to use my words better, I’m meaning having the inner loop like you have and an outer road to hook up the outside resources that risk breaking the walkers you need from the temple.

Maybe i missed it, but how was savescumming/exploiting to keep the temple of mars justified? From the mapmakers intro it seemed like loosing it on start was intended? Or was it a bug in the savefile manipulation that made it burn down?
@Ails12342 ай бұрын
Hi, map maker here. Jake is a dirty cheater and a rapscallion But seriously though, yeah it's not the intended way to play the map but he's free to use any tactics he wants. The block could've been built near the Neptune temple with a similar effect so it's not too game breaking
@SillyIdea2 ай бұрын
Multiple ways. First, even with it burning down you can appease Mars via oracles once you import marble. He kept the temple, but didn't give it labor until he had enough oracles anyway. The temple doesn't appease the God if it isn't staffed. This leads to the question of why save it at all? Jake likes dense cities. There's enough space to use the temples on the right side of the map and win the assignment. So as long as he still deals with an angry mars, the only benefit he has is a more aesthetic city in the end because of religion access for housing. If anything, building up high level plebs in the east only to spend a fortune to bulldoze them and rebuild by Mars is a disadvantage. The map would be easier without his little trick, just less aesthetic. Sorry for the long message but that should cover everything he said in video?

Simply put, I wanted to make a dense city. I was only able to barely pull off a victory on this map, so I didn't achieve what I wanted within the timeframe, but I will be continuing on with this city off-stream and make the eternal beautiful city I want, with the Mars temple!

So your said 50 is a good cutie goal for perfect religion and decent theater coverage. How would you go about setting a culture goal if you wanted to require perfect coverage for all culture buildings, but not so far as culture spamming? 60, 55?
@Ails12342 ай бұрын
Keeping 5 gods happy or better will award 30 points. Perfect school coverage award 15 points. Perfect theater coverage award 25 points. Perfect library coverage award 20 points. Perfect academy coverage award 10 points. Good coverage gives half the points. Average coverage gives barely any Basically perfect coverage *requires* spamming. If you just have 1 building per block you might not even reach "good" coverage, which puts you at around 64 points (assuming you keep the gods happy through oracles). This would also probably require academies/schools/libraries in blocks where you don't need them
