This map was awesome! Loved the spread out fortifications,(most) legions historically acurate outside of the city, grand insulae. You struggled for every inch of the map and did so masterfully! One of the most enjoyable ceasar sessions so far.

Loved the seaside grand insulae. Great map and solution. Would love to see what this one looks like immortalized.

Aye, I just took care of it last night. The completed city is being uploaded to the C3Heaven and will be available here in a day or so: caesar3.heavengames.com/downloads/lister.php?category=cities Here's a final screenshot too though: drive.google.com/file/d/1ibnib27J01dRjf723NNdW8oc6Evxf89h/view?usp=drive_link

I think at that point he could just add the option from augustus for always mergers. He is a dev so it shouldn't be difficult for him to do it I think.
@elliotkamper3 ай бұрын
@@abdueltio8512 My only qualm is that having merges on all tiles makes city planning a bit too orderly for the challenge I crave. I think Jake feels the same, even if he hasn't exactly articulated it in that way.
@elliotkamper3 ай бұрын
The impact of the compression and the video encoder and KZbin upload have on the resolution likely eliminates the pink pixels on these VODs altogether.
@abdueltio85123 ай бұрын
@@elliotkamper i dont care or think the visibilty of pink pixels are an issue. just that if you start squinting or continuisly use the delete tool to change the tiles to get those mergers, why dont you just add always merge at that point.
@abdueltio85123 ай бұрын
@@elliotkamper to add another argument, i actually play the game too and a bit more how it is intended i think. The whole point to the non merger houses is that you for example build a whole block of houses and just keep the non mergers. It just adds variety and beauty to the city that way but if you intend to never keep non mergers there is no point in the system. The way people on youtube like jake play the game is extremely optimised which the game doesnt expect in a normal campaign game but some of the maps jake play with all the limitations forces them into this specific way of optimised gameplay which doesnt have a place for non mergers. If you play normally and play it like a regular city builder the game just fits into its place and all of the mechanics make sense.

Jake you do know that in Augustus you get to choose if you want global labour right? You could always switch to it and just pick out the things you want from it, it has a very robust setting system

Hey, Jake could you be so kind to share this amazing setting with pink pixel? I'm really struggling with these lazy mergers.
@DDRJake3 ай бұрын
Certainly. Like many tools for games I stream I keep it on my public drive here: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1mtQLQXV6IjduCIpMaA25gJea_sK10VSo?usp=drive_link Extract the "Purple Pixel Tiles" into your Caesar 3 folder, although as ever back up your original files. I'm 98% sure these are the correct files but it has been a while since I made the modifications. Remember that the pink pixels show the tiles which are NOT merger tiles, and sadly it does not work on farmlands because that was too much for me to figure out.

I’m sure it’s been mentioned before, but what would you say to a middle ground for oracles similar to “god effects +”. Instead of all or nothing, you can build one oracle per 1k pop or so. Too fiddly or augustus-like?
@DDRJake2 ай бұрын
Definitely too fiddly and over-tuned for my liking.

I like the quality of life improvements like the zooming map and the highlighted walker routes, but there are too many gameplay changes for my liking: Global Labour Pool, riots from low level housing, monuments, levy, new trade goods, I'm just not interested in it, I like my vanilla Caesar III experience.
