Nice kit, I bought the Sonor Aq2 bop about 4 years ago, and then added a 20x16, 8/10 and 16 to make a shell bank all in WMP. They are great drums. For the record - I owned a Gretsch Brooklyn kit with similar sizes.. and the sonor kick drum blew the gretsch out of the water. The gretsch fit and finish was better and it tuned up a little easier. The sonor had a bit more cut and aggression to it, but still maintained a good punch mid-low frequency. I used them on my bands latest record back last year, and was not disapointed. Congrats on the new kit!

Your wife's the MVP for sure! Fortunately I play drums for the church. Every other 2-3 weeks I am serving there probably I could earn some allowance at gigs however I decided to dedicate my time for the Lord & earning to God's time and that value. I really appreciate the church letting me bring my cymbals there Zildjian K sweets 20inch crashes and K dark custom rides. Keep doing what you do and keep playing drums! You're awesome!✌️💪💪👍👍

Mount the 12" like a suspended floor tom ahead of the floor tom. I've done that before and it works great. I have a Sonor Designer Series 7 piece in Birds eye maple light, green stain. Had em since 96. Love Sonor drums.

I played in bands for 10-12 years and basically did the same thing you did. I got burned out and pretty much quit playing for 3 years. Now the fire is back and I’m playing everyday and have even started playing with some musicians again. It gets in your blood and you start missing it after a while

That’s exactly where I am at! The fire is back be playing again, not in any huge rush to join a band, but who knows what the future holds. Thanks for your comment!

GREAT VIDEO! I have had the privilege to play an AQ2 White Marine Pearl kit as a house kit at a nice bar and grill in NC with my duo!! They have the "bigger" sizes with a 10"/12"/16" and 22x16" and MAN do I LOVE LOVE playing that drum set so so much!

@@KevinAlcombrack Dude you would LOVE it!!! I actually would recommend a 16” floor tom with your set, at my church we have a 10/12/ rack toms 14 & 16 floor toms with a 20” kick! It works really well!!

lol I’m working on it, I just don’t have any recording equipment, so I’m just going to use my iPhone. I wish I would have thought of making a video about drilling them out, I could just make a video explaining how I did them and the tools I used, would that work? Thank you so much!

I’ve had the Danny Carey sticks for years but my God not on that drum kit… I mean, clearly you can do as you please but I’m interested to hear you play these. BTW, I think you would absolutely love the Vinny Coliuta sticks. He just switched the Vader but they used to be made by Vic Firth. My go to stick for drum set is the jack Dejohnette and the Vinny stick. The Jack stick is the perfect all-around stick and the Vinny stick just has amazing rebound.

Well I’m a hard hitter and play hard rock, prog rock, and blues. I know this may look like a jazz setup, but I rock the heck out of these, and this 20” kick just has so much punch and bottom end and the Tom are just thunderous! Video coming soon!!

@JoeMo20003 ай бұрын
@KevinAlcombrack OK. Thanks. Maybe I missed it in this video, but did you buy the Stage or Studio versions? I think the only difference is the bass drum and floor tom sizes. I think I did hear you say 16" floor tom but could be wrong which would be the Stage version.
@KevinAlcombrack3 ай бұрын
I purchased the Studio version. 20” kick, 10, 12 and 14 toms and 14x6.5 snare. I’m going to buy the 16” later on.
@JoeMo20003 ай бұрын
@KevinAlcombrack Thanks. I was thinking "Studio" is more for studio, not gigs. But it looks like only bass drum and floor tom sizes are the differences, right? If so, I guess Sonor says, "Studio" rather than "Fusion". I just need the drums to not sound dead but quick attack and project.
@KevinAlcombrack3 ай бұрын
That’s correct! These absolutely do not sound dead. They are very punchy, lots of tone and they project very well and the kick drums and so deep and punchy. I’m telling you, I’ve owned DW collectors , and TAMA star classics and imho my Sonor aq2 sound so much better.
