Traded in the Pioneer AVH-P4150 crap (a video of it here: • P4150.wmv ) for this, the Kenwood DDX-8034BT. After a week trying out the Pioneer, I just can't get it to sound right, even through a pair of DLS R6A separates. The 3-band parametric EQ is a joke. Setting the high band above 3db makes "sssss" sounds to something like "zzzzz". The sound, overall, is a bit muddy for my taste. And finally, I can't get a good sound stage due to the lack of time alignment or correction.
Ok, the P4150 isn't really "crap"... it's just not for anyone who is after SQ.
This Kenwood has everything but the kitchen sink... CD/VCD/DVD player, two USB ports (one dedicated for iPod and another to plug in any USB media), Bluetooth A2DP and handsfree mobile calling, full iPod integration (music and video), a TV tuner (add-on), etc.
But once it's up and running, it reads off media from USB storage (hard disk or flash memory) or from an iPod almost instantaneously (as can be seen in the video). Another thing I liked about this Kenwood is the audio tweakability. The Digital Time Alignment alone was a Godsend. I can have the sound stage wherever I want at a touch the screen.
One quirk: The damn thing takes approx. 25 seconds to boot up. :D
