De-Aging Anakin Skywalker | Obi Wan Kenobi

Here is a fun little video, did anyone else think that Anakin Skywalker looked a little off in episode 5 of Obi Wan Kenobi? Well we thought, why not have a go at de-aging him using old methods!

I think both characters looked great in the show. I would rather see subtle de-aging than full on CG. My personal preference aside, your work here is fantastic.

I actually appreciate you saturating the colors because while people were freaking out over how anakin wasn’t de aged, they didn’t notice how pale he looked cause in ep 2-3 his skin was tanned so I’m glad one youtuber noticed that

Your recolour is probably the only thing I think let this edit down, it’s over saturated - I don’t know if you are using calibrated monitors or not but Anakins lookin unnaturally pink!

I agree, it looks more like KZbin compression as in the actual file the colour is warmer, nothing like this. If we end up doing the full fight, we will find the 4K version to ensure colour match is closer!

Much much better but still on the uncanny valley IMO. Honestly, they should've just rotoscoped old footage from the Prequels for one or two closeups and kept the camera wide during the rest of the scenes. I really didn't care when they were moving, but the closeups really took out of the show.

Yeah! I think that the wide stuff looks great, but the wig colour was also slightly off which really threw me! The colour palette not matching the AOTC colour palette is weird as Hayden has a deep tan through that movie, here… not so much.

@@IP-Films This episode really shows the budget (time too?) constraints of this season. The fact that you could improve the original in just a few hours is a testament to that. I like this series in concept, the main story beats are fine but the execution is not good.

The episode 5 Anakyn looked way off, he looked at the same time not like Hayden and OLDER than Hayden during episode 3. Very very disappointing vfx

the compression is really high here, re-up in 4k and up the bitrate when exporting, other than that frikin solid de-aging!

I think I like the aged more than the de aged to be honest. It was nice to see present day Hayden back as padawan anakin in that moment again.

It's really impressive that he can still look like a Padawan after 2 whole decades, it's incredible. If he does more scenes in Clone Wars/ROTS era, he'll fit in like a glove. His more deeper voice is honestly better too as it resembles Lanter's from the Clone Wars show.

I think that the scene was like that because it's an imaginary event in Vader's mind. If that would've happen in that time they would've use an app, like they did with Luke, but if they let it that way it was maybe because it's an imaginary event

Well, hecould do this in one day, so yeah people its not perfect, duh! Just focus on the fact that someone on youtube could do this for free in a short time! So why the fuck a multibillion dollar company that had months to do it and also, by the way did an entire young luke skywalker in Boba fett, couldn't de-aging properly Anakin? There is simply no excuse!
