Hmm. I don't think this is what I'm looking for at all, then. I'm not looking to exceed the 15 mph speed restriction on the motor. What I'd like is a way to add a burst of extra power just to get you over that hill. As far as I know the motor is technically capable of provding that, but I don't know any practical way to get it to do it.

Nice Dave..thats the yoke im looking for. Funny how funspeed limits the Mahle to 19mph. ❤❤❤

Hi Dave, this is a very good video and explanation which has driven me to their website to acquire the same unit. However it states it’s only suitable for the X 35 and I’m wondering which motor and battery you are running on your particular frame as they came back to me and advised it was not suitable, but perhaps this was them being overcautious and therefore I welcome your views. Please keep up the videos. I enjoy them very much.

The motor I have is MAHLE X35 system with 250 w compatible battery, so if yours is different I would make further enquiries to which one is suitable for you . atb Dave

I have a Speedfun adaptor and have noticed two things about it. First, the speed indicated on the app is about 50% of the real speed. Is this normal? Such a dramatic reduction in indicated speed seems to mess up the power curve characteristics a lot. Second. I put the bike on a stand and fitted a speed sensor to the rear wheel. Without the Speedfun, the bike will spin the rear wheel at 15.7mph when slowly turning the crank. When I install the Speedfun the motor still only turns the rear wheel at 15.7mph. Is this correct or is my Speedfun faulty?
@davesolobiker560110 ай бұрын
You mention the app , is this the e-bike app ? All I know is that I fitted it and it doesn’t cut out at just over 15mph but cuts out around the 19.5mph mark . Sounds like there is something not right with yours tho ?

Thanks for video. Funny though Speedfun is still just another speed restrictor. It just increases your speed but still limits it. I use a Speedbox on a Bosch Performance Line Speed 28mph in the United States and it really is a speed de-restrictor as it totally removes the limit so you are no longer renting your bike from an ebike motor company. So funny government puts restrictors on bicycles but won't do the same thing that could easily be done to something that really does injure or kill pedestrians including cyclist every day, cars.....Btw, I normally can hit speeds in my sprints up to 40mph on my acoustic/mechanical race bikes. I am simply asking to be able to do that with my ebikes I have bought. (our group rides hit that regularly on our out of town training circuits.)
@davesolobiker560110 ай бұрын
Yeah increases it slightly but still restricted to UK standards 😭

Thank you for the video. Do you any advice how to install this sevice in a Scott Addict Eride 2021 modell. All cable are fully integrated so I am not full conviced how to install this 17cm aditionla section. Thanx!
@davesolobiker56015 ай бұрын
Sorry I’m not conversant with that bike so can’t really assist you on this installation.
@grahammorris91198 ай бұрын
When installed the speed displayed on the app is half the real speed. This creates a problem when climbing hills. The bike thinks you are only doing 3-4mph and this causes the power to be dramatically reduced. Exactly what you don’t want.

Hi Dave, Does the speeding ghost work the same with battery extender? Some on line posts have said it interferes with MAHLE firmware here too.
@davesolobiker56016 ай бұрын
Not sure about the extender as I don’t have one , my SG works as it should , I think lol

Surely the Mahle is a view of what the mahle thinks it’s doing so it doesn’t cut out?
@davesolobiker560111 ай бұрын
possibly.

Hi Dave, thanks for posting this video, it's an interesting device. Their website states it will falsify information on any Mahle related app, like the speed info you pointed out, which is a pity for me as it's the only one I use.

I also bought speddfun ghost for my merida esilex. Even the app shows less speed, the motor still cuts at factory level. No gain at all... :(

Yeah, i'd never advocate putting narrower tyres on a bike but i would here. With 3mm of clearance once your rear wheel goes out of true it's going to rub up on that connector. I'd be going to 32mm tyres if i were you
@davesolobiker56014 ай бұрын
Thanks , yeah it’s close but so far no rubbing 👍

@@davesolobiker5601 Good job with the Video BTW. Debating about getting an E-bike or converting an existing bike i have. Problem is they are all steel and have rim, not disc brakes. My rim brakes are all dialled in on all my bikes with about 1mm of forward toe on the brake pad, but even the rim brakes depend on no water on the rim and no grit (which TBH is a given in Glasgow). I've seen many E-bike brands and i used to own 2 Ribble steel racers in the 90's and 2000's . I think if i get an E-bike it has to be recognized brand. I've heard horror stories about quality from brands in China and also some of the conversion kits for bikes i wonder if the bikes themselves are suited to conversion. Most E-bikes seem to have beefed up chainstays and dropouts if they have a rear motor to handle the torque
