I love it when artists direct their music videos themselves. Torre is such an inspiration!

Ah brilliant! Thank you for this “making of”. I really love the video for this. I know a few people were not overly impressed with it being an AI content movie but it’s clear how much human imagination and effort went into it. I think all De Staat movies are enormously innovative and really inventive and a huge part of the whole “De Staat experience”. Please tell me you’re playing in the UK this year, or I’ll have to bunk off work to get to 2000Trees! ❤

I'm definitely not against AI, but I wonder what (based on copyrighted images) model was used, and what De Staat would think about their music being used in a music AI model...

Thank you for sharing the behind the scenes to this video. Truly incredible. I didn't realise, when you released it, that it was AI generated, though it sounds like a lot of work went into it, so well done for such a great initiative. Interesting to see how this develops.

A German artist once showed me one of your videos. He was impressed by your creativity and the fact that you produce your own videos. It was the witchdoktor video that was the first thing I saw. And to this day I'm a fan of both your music and your videos. Running backwards into the future is definitely my favorite though. But kitty kitty is also far ahead, it's so exhausting, so mindfucking to look at and still so cool!

AI will revolutionize film making, graphical and even Architectural industry to name just a few, it is genuinely interesting as it is scary. Though I can't wait until I can pop my Nerve VR on and feed the AI a bunch of prompts to make me a LOTR like movie in the future, that would be lit. Thank you DeStaat for this music and it's video, it really opened my eyes to the potential of this technology.

Its great to see how this is made and get some insight into a cool video, but it really does feel a shame to know that these AI programs often effectively steal artists work, including it in these algorithms without credit, payment or consent. Its undoubtedly amazing, powerful, interesting, but there's a lot of work needed to ensure this is done with fair support to the artists whose work makes this possible.
@MsHojat Жыл бұрын
For centuries people have been copying art styles and music styles, specific techniques, specific features or scenarios, specific plots, characters, sound effect styles, color palettes, etc. Heck people even do complete covers of songs or works of art/fan-art and don't without giving compensation to the original creator (granted legally speaking they're maybe officially due, but in practice it doesn't really happen) None of that is stealing; it's just looking at what is already out there and creating new stuff from it. There's no credit nor compensation needed to be given. Only when they specifically work with specifically-chosen stock images/video, and that is content that they purchased and have the right to use.

All brilliant, but I still miss your own face. Watched the whole video, but no AI can represent your mimics. Still perfect, but... your mimics. It's perfect when it's really yours. Real life, I mean. Still the video is INSANE brilliant!

@gyanfransen4313 Жыл бұрын

I love that you used original content and stock footage to feed the generative process instead of pretending that the prompt is some sort of art on it's own. Do you know if the data model behind training the AI was made only with content the system had permission to use? Midjourney was trained on a lot of stolen artwork that they never had permission to use in that factor, and it would really suck if your music video was using stolen content like that. 16000 artists have been identified as having their work stolen to build midjourney. Is that data model what made this video possible?

Honoustly I thought you guys hooked up with Corridor Crew, because they made something similar not too long ago, "Anime rock paper scissors" which can be found or their channel Corridor. This feels more artistic though.

Not super excited to see one of the most creative bands I know embracing AI that way. It is by definition ripping off people's work and aggregating them, without any spark of creativity. Musicians haven't been affected as much yet, but it will come. Soon i will be able to ask for a song about my cat in the style of De Staat, and it will use their work to generate one. Is it the future to be able to rip off styles that took a lifetime to create for cheap? Probably. Am I excited for it? Not really.

Isn’t human Art just inspired by life experience and other art? AI simply does what humans have done for years.
@LunarisTigris10 ай бұрын
Could have just hired actual animators and there wouldn't be any problems with the styles not matching 🙃. AI doesn't make anything new, it just mushed together stuff from the data set that contains so much stolen, copyrighted art work and photos and videos :).
@BringUsTheGirl Жыл бұрын
Of course using AI is a great idea, when it gives you more hair!
@h5000_11 ай бұрын
So disappointing seeing a band that I respect for their creative vision using tools that are fundamentally removed from the artistic process. And then talk about how this is the way movies will be done in the future? Sorry I cannot respect that. I love the band because there is so much emotion and love in each song. With AI we will loose that. Also not once did you think about where the original material that the AI was trained on was taken from, so what are you ok with the same people that made your video steal your songs and train an AI on it to makre replicated DeStaat songs? And it even looks like in your video as if you used watermarked stock videos? I really hope at least the Stock footage that was used was paid for... So many times in this, you say, 'Yeah, in between, it looked bad, and we didn't really need to put in much effort. The AI did everything for us.' Well, okay, but I don't want to see or listen to something, an algorithm pieced together of stolen work from real creative humans. The song is amazing, but this video is just a disappointment, and posting this so unreflected really made me lose a lot of respect for the band. I hope this was a one time thing and won't become the norm for the band.

@@sanick4864 I mean highly likely you are just trolling but incase you are serious. No actually a lot of people care, videos about this get millions of views it's a highly debated topic and it's important to talk about. Because it's an actually cool tool that sadly is tainted by the nature of the data on which these models where trained on. It's scary knowing that it's all content from real creatives being used here without their consent and what this means for the future of digital art or art in general. I personally think it could have a real usage could be used to create new art, actually enrich people's lives or make processes easier and faster. But in its current state we are paying a price for all this fancy tech that we don't even know how it will affect artists later down the line. incase you are trolling tho. I fucked your mom or something LOL 😂😂😂😂😂😂
@veiledAutonym6 ай бұрын
Yeah coming back to this and not gonna lie, this sucks. All I see is a job that could have gone to a handful of animators being destroyed in favor of a cheap hack on the plagarism engine. We KNOW that midjourney uses artist's content without permission.
