De strenge winter van 1929 in kleur! Winter in Holland in 1929 in color! [A.I. enhanced & colorized]

Het is nu heftig winterweer in Nederland, maar het kan nog veel erger. Kijk maar eens naar deze beelden van sneeuw- en ijs-overlast bijna een eeuw geleden! Ook toen kwamen er ijsbrekers aan te pas op de meren en grote rivieren en kon men zich prima op het ijs vermaken met heel veel ijspret en zelfs ringsteken op het ijs met door paarden getrokken sleden nabij Leeuwarden!
De beelden zijn gemaakt tijdens de extreme winters in met name 1928/1929 en ook in 1932. De winter van 1928-1929 was in Nederland en België de enige strenge winter tussen 1895 en 1940.
Beautiful colorized images of severe winter conditions in The Netherlands almost a century ago. The film shows Amsterdam cloaked in snow, frozen lakes, canal and rivers, ice breakers at work, high snow dunes and even a "ringsteken" competition on ice with horse and buggy!
The film was made during the severe winter of 1929 and also in 1932. This was the worst recorded winter between 1895 and 1940.

@@thomasm1281 my husband’s family are from Harlingen & Franeker and I own Friesians horses so Leeuwarden (and Drachten) are like a 2nd homes for me. When I’m over I’m usually found at some point of the day in Cafe Wouters lol

Geweldig om naar te kijken. Vooral omdat het nu buiten ook lekker koud is en de aardig wat sneeuw ligt. Wat mij op viel was dat de a.i. onze Nederlandse driekleur niet altijd juist had. Maar dat mag de pret niet drukken. Lekker doorgaan waar je mee bezig bent, het is een genot om all deze oude filmpjes te kijken. Vooral met de muziek die weer bij zit. Dat werkt haast therapeutisch. 👍👍👍

De DeOldify software weet absoluut niet om welk land het gaat. Er zijn bijna 100 landen ter wereld met een vlag met drie horizontale banden. Ik kan daar niets aan veranderen.

Als de jaartallen kloppen dan is de scene vanaf 5.00 ergens langs de spoorlijn Amsterdam - Haarlem - Rotterdam of Haarlem - IJmuiden je ziet een geëlektrificeerde spoorlijn op de achtergrond. Zelf denk in aan Amsterdam. Bij 7.05 zie je denk ik de spoorbrug van Nijmegen

The DeOldify colorization software has no idea what country is involved. There are about 100 countries with a flag that consists of three horizontal banners. If it was the English or US flag then the software can recognize these distinct flags. The only option is manual colorization which is far too much work and almost impossible to get it right.
