Thanks for the reaction Welcome to the Dea Matrona rabbit hole. They have come a long way since their busking days ! Dea Matrona is just Mollie and Orlaith. Ross Bickerstaff (drums) and Declan McKerr (guitar) have been touring with them since the release of their 1st album, For Your Sins, earlier this year. Both feature in this video. Their previous touring drummer was Jamie Hewitt.

This is probably their most commercial, pop sounding song. It's a little Fleetwood Mac and a little ABBA (two of their influences). The video itself was inspired by an ABBA video. The ladies album has a little of everything musically. They've got heavier stuff like the song Wilderness with a little nod to Led Zeppelin's Immigrant Song, Black Rain which sounds like it could have been on Led Zeppelin III, Dead Man's Heart a Country/Rock a Billy style song with some George Thorogood slide from Mollie, Glory Glory and Won't Feel Like This Forever give a folky vibe, So Damn Dangerous and Get My Mind Off a couple mid tempo rockers with a little funk on the latter. Stamp On It, Stuck on You and Didn't Nobody Every Love You are typically Dea Matrona rock songs. One thing that I wish they'd do is lengthen their songs a little. All their songs are just three minutes and I'd like to hear a little more of their guitar and bass skills in their originals. A little more on the opening riffs and a little more in the solo (bass and/or guitar) or a little breakdown where they jam out a little. This would be good on at least some of their songs as they tend to do this live but a little more demonstration of their formidable skills in the studio would be great.

The guys in the band are a support band. It's officially just Orlaith and Mollie in Dea Matrona. This year they added the second guitarist for live shows and videos but it's' all Orlaith and Mollie on guitars and bass on the album. They've used a couple different touring drummers since Mamie left but tI think this lineup has been in place for all of 2024 so far, I believe. They are on tour right now supporting Royal Republic and I think this is the lineup they've got on tour still.

The one in the jean jacket is Mollie, right? I love her eye expressions and that cute mouth shape.

Yes that's Mollie.

Sounds very commercial. Their earlier stuff was much less so. Production is better here but if they don't end up being autotuned I'll be very surprised.

I don't think they need auto tune, their voices stand up without any assistance from technology. I am a little concerned about their musical direction though. As an older rocker who still love his hard rock and blues rock, I'd like to see them not lose sight of their heavier side. Their acoustic stuff and their harmonies are great for softer and poppier songs and I love that, but I hope they keep guitar rock in their repertoire too.
