We Scots love this song. It’s become part of our culture and folklore. What a song. Glad you liked it because we love it. If you’re ever in the company of a Scot, play this song and see their reaction. You should react to Loch Lomond by Runrig live at Loch Lomond, another great Scottish song.

This has a personal meaning for a lot of hardworking Scots. And very popular on a night out. Gets everyone on their feet

Deacon Blue were one of my favourite band from the 80's. Give Twist 'n' Shout a go. They had so many catchy songs. Very underrated group.

It could just as easily be about be about a minimum wage Walmart clerk in St Louis. It's about being working class and ordinary but keeping your chin up and having a dream to cling onto. Hence it unites 95% of us, the other 5% being the lucky few who can actually afford to go out and spend 30k on a boat on a whim.

Deacon Blue are one of the finest bands to come out of Scotland. Some really good tunes through the years, with Dignity being the pinnacle of their output, in my humble opinion. Have a wee listen to 500 miles by the Proclaimers. A great party sing-along song by the Reid twins, the Lairds of Auchtermuchty.

Great band. 'Real Gone Kid' and 'Chocolate Girl' are also worth a listen. Ricky and Lorraine (the singers) had - and still have - great chemistry. One of showbiz's happier love stories.

I’m Scottish and this song is such an anthem to me, I work for the council too so yeah I get it, I want a boat and to name her dignity 🤣
@davidr37894 жыл бұрын
Probably mentioned before but it's about a bin man (garbage man) who saves up to buy a boat. The thought of being on his holidays and sailing through West Coast villages and towns on it when everyone else is working keeps him going through his normal working day. Like all your reactions and your selections 👍

Ah one of my favourite songs. I feel the release a couple of years after the original flop had a bit more punch to the base which made it much a more successful release here in Britain. They just covered Bruce - dancing in the dark on radio 2. Check it out here on KZbin. It’s an amazing cover! 👌 ps India, to continue ur with the Scottish theme I would listen to whole of the moon by waterboys. Amazing tune!
