Better or worse than the Omega 9k?
@Capitolarmory
@Capitolarmory 7 жыл бұрын
Different. What mounting systems and other cans you're invested in will make most folks lean one way or the other. I personally think the 9K sound better in the short, but the Wolf sounds substantially more quiet in the long.

Why do you shoot steel targets when demonstrating sound levels? Hello?
@Capitolarmory
@Capitolarmory 6 жыл бұрын
I would rather shoot at something, instead of just randomly into the dirt. There are more than enough shots off steel to give an idea of how the suppressors sounds. Additionally, a video can't accurately capture how the suppressor sounds. We aren't demonstrating sound levels, just showing it being used.
@bw162
@bw162 6 жыл бұрын
Just saying, viewer doesn’t care what you would rather shoot at. It is a silencer video. Shoot paper but don’t detract from folks trying to get an idea of the products sound level and tone by shooting steel.
@01HondaS2kXD
@01HondaS2kXD 6 жыл бұрын
George W I actually prefer shooting at steel. The ring of the steel will sound the same regardless of whether it’s being hit with suppressed or unsuppressed. So, comparing the sound levels of the suppressed/unsuppressed shot to the immediate sound of the steel is a better way of telling how a can sounds than just listening to the sounds of a shot which are never really accurately translated by any microphone and speaker.
@bw162
@bw162 6 жыл бұрын
38SSM Whatever works for you but what makes you think the mike that records the silencer differently will not do the same with steel hits?
@01HondaS2kXD
@01HondaS2kXD 6 жыл бұрын
George W because the steel will always have a constant sound. So, even if the mic is adjusting for the sound of the gunshot, the different tone between the unsuppressed and suppressed shots will give a good way of getting a feel for how loud it was.

Hey I love this video! Dead air has since released the new wolfman 9 that is wiped, and the shorter configuration is longer now. Would you say that the dead air wolfman in the long and wiped configuration is probably the quietest 9mm pistol suppressor you can run? I know they are big, and high in volume, and weight. But the dead air wolfman is probably sub 120dB with quieter ammunition? I can’t wait for your review on the Wolfman! Thanks capitol armory.

Will suppressor height sights work on a pistol with this can? Can you see over the can? I sent you a message on Texas Gun Talk.
@Capitolarmory
@Capitolarmory 7 жыл бұрын
Eric, they won't... it's a pretty fat little can. It fully obscures the sights. You can "look through" the sights, but it's not going to be as good of a picture as something much smaller around.

Once you learn how to aim through the suppressor the sight height becomes superfluous

Great videos/reviews. Thank you guys! Any chance you can do some db numbers of other cans so there is a comparison? Is it worth putting a Wolf9SD on an MPX instead of my Multimount? How does the Wolf 9SD in long configuration sound compared to other 9mm full size cans on the MPX?
@Capitolarmory
@Capitolarmory 5 жыл бұрын
In the long, it's going to be more quiet but higher backpressure. It sounds better than quite a few full size cans on the MPX, but with a bit more blowback. It really depends on what your level of acceptance is with both SPL and blowback. (That's also ammo dependent though.)

sorry for the noob question, can you use it with an AR-15 if you get an adapter for it? if not what would you recommend as a hybrid suppressor running on a 5.56 and adapting it to a 9mm
@letseewhathappens101
@letseewhathappens101 7 жыл бұрын
Danox I'm probably to late but if I'm not take a look at the silencerco hybrid it can shoot from 9mm up to 338 lapua I'm debating about getting it myself because one tax stamp an it runs multiple calibers as well as pistols and rifles also you might check out the Liberty Maxim X if you don't like the hybrid.
@Capitolarmory

It's pretty much a 9mm suppressor (that can also handle Blackout). It's not rated for 5.56.

We did-- the short was a bit loud, but the long sounded pretty decent.

@ILicence 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the response! Terminally speaking, Supersonic 300BO is where it's at. If you're already breaking the sound barrier, then being a little loud isn't the end of the world. As long as you can keep it hearing safe (or really close) the can is doing it's job well.

Obsidian9 vs? Running on Banshee 300 model 9mm 5 inch pistol
@Capitolarmory

Different cans. The Wolf (and Wolfman) are basically subgun or PCC cans, where as the Obsidian 9 is more of a pistol can. Both suppressors can run on both, just are optimized differently.

Nice review but can we all just stop ever using AE 147 for testing please. It is the absolute worst subsonic 9 in this universe. With the abundance of IMI, PPU, Fiocchi and Hush 158 grain and the excellent 165 grain Hush subgun or heavy metal handgun (Hush 165 and I both don't like Glocks), there is no need to ever buy AE again. I should know... I bought six cases of it a four years ago because it was a good deal money wise but I was actually calling suppressor companies to ask why their suppressors with good numbers shot on similar hosts as they used were hurting my unprotected ears. Turns out they never used the stuff.

As far as the American Eagle 147, the blunt answer is no. Changing ammo changes numbers, and really isn't fair. It can make one can look much better than another when it's simply not the case. As far as the worst in the universe, we're going to have to differ on opinions. It's a pretty industry standard ammo, and a solid 147 grain loading. When you look at 158, you start to cross over into more boutique loads. Freedom Munitions is just flat out garbage in my opinion, and the Hush line is smoke and mirrors. It would be the same is if I loaded even more heavy blackout ammo and dropped the speed to 650 FPS. Same reason we test with Gemtech Subsonic instead of CCI quiet. When you underpower an ammo, it may sound more quiet but it's not a representation of the caliber. I personally shoot a lot of Lawman 147, as it's a good analog for Gold Dot 147. Can you make things even more quiet... absolutely. But at some point it starts to become dishonest with reflecting how the actual caliber should sound. If can A is 130 and can B is 140 with the same ammo, you can assume that can A preforms better. If you change ammo to something like Hush that's underpowered (and has awful QC) and it says 120 and 130, the same result applies. Can B is louder. However, the actual numbers are arguably manipulated by using non-standard ammo loadings.

Two reasons why the rugged dedicated 9mm gets my money over this. Firstly, the internal low profile three lug mount. Secondly, I’m an aerospace welder and fabricator, who holds 15 awsD17.1 certs and I simply wont tolerate such dissimilar weld patterns. Those welds have massive undercut. Ugly as fuck.
