"sending survivors to the cage doesn't count as a hook" This is not a glitch tho, this is intended gameplay. It counts as 1 hookstate(which it did), but its not the same as 1 hookstate. Essentially, you dont get emblem points, nor do you get hook bloodpoints. Why? Because perks like BT, Dying Light, DS, Deliverance, Camaraderie, Breakout, We're Gonna Live Forever, BBQ&Chilli, Aftercare, Baby Sitter, Pop, Make Your Choice, Bloodwarden, Furtive Chase, Blood Echo, Dead Man's Switch, Off The Record and Second Wind are all essentially useless on a cage. Or in short: they fucked over Steve's perks even more than they already are. So to discourage using a cage unless its really neccesary, you should just go for a hook. It's the same reason why using Ebony Mori doesnt tend to give you a pip. FYI, if you send a video to the dbd bugreport, make sure to add in timestamps. Saves them a whole lot of time overall, meaning more bugs can be fixed per hour.
