I watched Baraka when released on the big screen in 92 then travelled the world for the next four years with the soundtrack with me. I travelled to many of the countries featured in the doco and also saw Dead Can Dance perform live in London. Those experiences continue to have a profoundly positive effect on my life. THIS is the only musical act which to me matters, because they have an amazing unique ability to completely transcend music performance to where it becomes more than just music, it becomes a meditation, a means to travel outside - or even inside - ones body, to places never even imagined. I've been listening to and actively involved with creating music for well over 40 years and I have never heard of music output on such a level as what pours out of Dead Can Dance. Once they are able to tour the states, I will make it a point to catch at least one performance, as I can only imagine how life changing that must be as well.

The band Dead Can Dance is not from Italy, I suggest google or wiki them for Brandon Perry/Lisa Gerrard's origins. They broke up but very recently have gotten back together for a new album and world tour; I'll be seeing them in Nashville for my birthday. I am extremely excited to say the least.
