@@MJultraB The weapon ist actually the 'Machete and Pistol' but in legendary. The legendary one has only the third hit of the combo(the gun shot). The Icon for the legendary misses the Machete so its only the gun.

taking the gun over the bat was the best choice, mostly because you had no root nades or way to consistently stun the boss (and you cant do the bat obliteration tactic without one of two of those)

the bat is good when you can stun the enemy and you cant really stun bosses, but since the pistol is just the crit every time, it does more damage every hit than the bat's critical would anyways due to the conditions of the crit (being stunned).

Basicaly one of the best legendaries in the game bc it deals a lot of dmg and also gun And also, it's not new, it's actually the Machete and Pistol weapon, but since its Legendary modifier is "Only does the last hit of the combo" (which is the gun), the devs just said "screw it, you're not even gonna use the machete anyway" and took it off for the weapon icon and the sprite

I'm genuinely curious, does it count as a melee attack for the purposes of Brutality mutations? As some guys have mentioned earlier, it's a legendary variation of the Machete and Pistol, which makes me wonder if the three-hit combo is melee > melee > melee or melee > melee > ranged

Apparently, it counts as a melee attack which makes sense since the range is pretty small. Although I'm just going of what other commenters say so take it with a grain of salt.
