I wonder if we’ll ever get to actually kill the time keeper. Also would be cool if we get to go to a new land if the Malaise is spreading further outward. Whether in an expansion or a new game

I don’t believe we kill the Time Keeper since she has plot armor. Her existence helps explain the time loop and the paradox that the player can experience at 5BSC. Maybe if we eventually get a way to kill her, that will be the way we finally leave the island.

I like the Time Keeper, I honestly would hate to see her die :(. While it would be cool if a DLC came out where you can help her find a solution where she isn't forced to repeat time over and over again, the chances of that happening are probably slim.

I like her too. She seems to be the only one with her head on her shoulders, no pun intended. I believe she is the key to breaking the paradox and escaping the island.

I’m getting mixed messages from the queen. She realizes the king is a POS since all he cares about is saving himself, however she stills calls him her beloved and her king. She then goes to say she doesn’t want to kill him but she keeps cackling during the fight like she enjoys stabbing his face. She’s obviously the good guy here, but she did slaughter a ship that was passing by the island in the trailer. So I’m having trouble getting a read on her.

My assumption is that the king was a good person prior to the outbreak. As he's dying, the Giant will wistfully say that the king used to be "a model" to everyone, and he seems confused as to what drove him down this path. So, let's think about this for a moment: what exactly do you do about the Malaise? It kills quickly, painfully, spreads like wildfire and can reanimate the dead. There is no cure, the hospitals don't have space for all the infected and the graveyards are filling up even with all the bodies being torched. The way I see it, the king was put into an unwinnable situation. No matter what he did, the infection was going to spread and the people were going to complain that he wasn't stopping it. He was presented with nothing but lose/lose scenarios and ridicule from his subjects, until eventually he got desperate and the pressure drove him off the deep end. The queen likely remembers who he was prior to this, and her love for who the king used to be conflicts with her hatred of who he became.

Who's to say they haven't all lost their minds? After all, we're talking about a queen that has been stranded on a lighthouse island for god knows how long. It's bound to screw with your brain eventually.

Well he's not going heaven neither hell so he created his own goal just so he could ignore and have nothing to do with what's happening on the island even though it's all almost entirely his fault

@@williammortensen9170 No one on the island dies really. Well momentarily but then the time loop brings everyone "back". Or perhaps you're right and she doesn't die in the fire and fall from the lighthouse. Only her body gets destroyed and her homonculus slowly "crawls" up the lighthouse again? Would be nice to know where her body is stored if it's her original body she inhabits with the homonculus.

Have you seen the dialog changes when using the king outfit? Also, I don't think the beheaded loved the queen, according to what we see and hear, he's quite the psychotic sociopath with utterly no remose nor care for others. I find it interesting the queen doesn't recognize the beheaded, could she be unaware of what happened to him?

The Collector implies that the Beheaded's stunted sense of empathy and morality is a result of his transformation into a homunculus. Judging by the orders we find around the island, I doubt the king was a great person in life, but it seemed like a lot of people respected him prior to the outbreak. As he's dying, the Giant will wistfully comment that the king used to be "a model" to everyone. And if you kill the queen while wearing the king's outfit, her dialogue implies she would've happily stayed with him if it hadn't been for the Malaise. The way I see it, being in charge of the island during the outbreak was kind of an unwinnable situation. No matter what he did, people were still going to die and be unhappy because of his actions, and it slowly drove him over the edge. This is especially evident when you consider that the Beheaded comments on how much of an asshole the king sounds like whenever he reads notes or letters around the island. As for the queen recognizing him, I'd assume she actually does even without the outfit. The line "But I guess you're beyond reason now." is especially damning, that's not something you say to a stranger. On top of that, if you die before the queen reaches phase 2 she sacrifices part of her own health bar to revive the Beheaded, telling him to fight "for real, this time". I think the dialogue is worded ambiguously because it's possible for new players to completely skip the giant and go straight to the queen, so they want to imply that she knows without saying it directly (unless you're wearing his outfit of course).

@@mr.d9626 I said the beheaded not the king, I feel they are very different for a verity of reasons, especially since the beheaded didn't remember its prior life as the king till late in the game. I said that her dialogue changes when wearing the kings outfit, part of my point was the queen didn't recognize the beheaded in the "canon" ending of it. She literally calls him an interloper, not "my love" as when wearing the kings outfit. I think she respects the beheaded ( he killed her loyal guards and fought his way through the island), but loves the king (yes I realize they are the same, but they are very different personality wise as you said)

@@The_KingDoge Sorry, your usage of "loved" past tense was a little confusing. It sounded like you were referring to his past life. As for the queen, _interloper_ is simply a fancy word for _intruder._ She probably doesn't refer to him as her husband directly because, like you said, he's pretty far gone at this point. For all she knows he could be halfway to becoming feral like the failed homunculi from Undying Shores. She knows he's here to light the fire, she knows he isn't going to let her stop him, reopening old wounds just because she can would be pointless. Look at her default dialogue again: _"After all the Malaise has done to the kingdom, you should know that we cannot allow anything to leave this island. But I guess you're beyond reasoning now."_ *"You* should know", *"We* cannot allow", *"You're* beyond reasoning". She talks as if she knows the Beheaded, or more specifically she knows how he thinks. She wouldn't bother trying to reprimand him like that if he was just some random homunculus that she didn't know. Furthermore, we know the court Alchemist created the homunculi while looking for ways to fend off the Malaise. Given that he was working for the king, it would make sense that he used the research as a last ditch effort to preserve him and his wife, _especially_ if the Alchemist being the Collector is canon. Ergo, the queen would almost certainly know that the king was turned into a homunculus like her, or at the very least have a sneaking suspicion. As a more obscure bit of evidence, the scene where the Beheaded possesses his original body (the king's) implies that the king was agile and likely a semi-capable warrior in life. The other homunculi are shambling messes and the queen probably wouldn't expect one to make it up the tower.

@@mr.d9626 interesting point and sorry for the phasing, I interpreted the lines as meaning the queen didn't recognize or know the beheaded and saw him as a realitive outsider to the situation, although, with your points in mind my opinion has now changed, the reason she referred to the Beheaded as she did, is that he's mentally and physically far from the one she loved. He lost his mind, body and voice, he's nearly nothing of the king. To her, seeing the shambling immortal thing in front of her is almost an outsider the situation. When she sees the beheaded in the kings body, he at least better resembled her husband, and she probably deduced from him having it again that he likely regained his memories.

For the beheaded. I don't exactly blame him for you know not giving a damn about her. Honestly he may be the king but he sure as hell doesn't think like him. He's shows actual disgust at what has happened. The queen was targeting someone who quite frankly isn't the person he was anymore. She could've just given him a chance to redeem himself.

Yeah, the beheaded didnt know he was the king or any of his past. Also, being a homonculus change his personality a lot, even the Collector/Alchemist said so. Even when u wear the king outfit, it's just something from the game, not the Beheaded when he possess his old body (when he remember his past again), because we dont know his fate when having to fight with another beheaded sent by the Time Keeper.
