really enjoyed the playthrough!! I believe serenade’s attacks in the end didn’t have enough range to hit the concierge

Since the item use rule change would have killed me anyway, it doesn’t matter much 😂😂

you can't use equipment card on both of your cards in solo, but can you use equipment for them in two players game?
@OneStopCoopShop10 күн бұрын
The new version of the FAQ clarifies that you can NEVER use two equipment cards in the same turn of combat, regardless of how many cards you play (solo or 2-player). But you can use a different equipment card each turn of combat, so the fact that a solo player or 2-player headless played 2 cards should make them be able to use their items more often overall

I am quite enjoying this game, i think it captures the roguelite video game well. I ended up ditching serenade and playing two handed
@OneStopCoopShop18 күн бұрын
That’s not a bad idea. I don’t think it would hugely break the game or anything to have perfect control of combat card play. Might cause a bit of analysis paralysis though…

In the first fight of the sewers biome, doesn't the worm have its two damage symbols touching each other meaning you can't split it? I think that's how Colin explained it in his video.

Dang it, you're right. Another example of something that is explained correctly in one place (the quick reference card), but not explained in another place (the rulebook). I love the game, but those mismatched and vague rules are annoying!

I'm really looking forward to your review. The game feels like endless grinding. Or am I wrong? In the end, you have to keep playing the game repeatedly to progress in the metagame. Otherwise, there's no chance of beating the really strong opponents at the end. I read a comparison somewhere with Slay the Spire, and it's supposed to have a similar feel. Though, with Slay the Spire, from the beginning and pretty much at any point in each run, you have the possibility to win and get as far as possible. Even if you've played the game a hundred times, you don’t improve through unlocks but through experience.

Yes, I would say you have it exactly right. To use two terms that are more common in video gaming, the Slay the Spire board game is a rogueLIKE. You unlock new cards and such, but generally speaking you aren't getting objectively stronger after each run, and that also means that you could theoretically get a good combo and get to the final-ish boss on your first run. The Dead Cells board game, on the other hand, is a rogueLITE, which means that you gain new power ups and bonuses after each play, so you are getting measurably stronger as you play more, and many of the toughest bosses and biomes are out of reach until you've played and grinded for a while. I love both games, but they aren't going to appeal to the same people. Dead Cells has a much stronger sense of unlocking stuff and leveling up as you play run after run, but Slay the Spire gives you that chance of an awesome run each time you play without having to grind.

@OneStopCoopShop Many thanks for your answer. Btw, you make the best playthroughs. I love your work and you're doing such a favor for the whole co-op genre. ❤️

@@OneStopCoopShop Apologies, but that is not quite correct. Both games are Rogue-lites. Rogue-likes are games that are LIKE-ROGUE the 1980 computer game. For more information see the 2008 Berlin Interpretation established at the International Roguelike Development Conference of that year. Having said that, I'll concede that this is not a concrete definition, more like an agreed upon consensus in an attempt to define what a Rogue-like is. This was done in order to try and categorize this video game genre and to delineate and/or differentiate the games that are heavily borrowing from Rogue from all the other games that mash Rogue elements with those from different genres like card-games (Slay the Spire), platformers and hack n slash/beat em up (Dead Cells), First Person Shooters and Rythm games (BPM) etc. Anyway, thank you for another great video, the game looks fun !

I kinda dislike attacks not having unique art on them, only difference are icons on the card so its kinda harder to immerse yourselve and imagine what your character is actually doing?
@OneStopCoopShopАй бұрын
I don't disagree, but also the combats are supposed to be taking 2-3 minutes max, so I'm not sure I would be immersing myself much anyway :)
@nahtanahtanАй бұрын
Woops, you did a mistake at multiple points in the game : when you get 2 hearts together, you have to give 2 damage to a single character (which you mistakingly divided between you and the serenade), and when the hearts are seperated, you have to give 1 damage to 2 characters (which you followed, but said you could choose to give both to the same character if you wanted).
@OneStopCoopShopАй бұрын
Yeah, someone else pointed that out already. I gotta say I hate how this game puts important rules like that only on the reference card and not in the actual rulebook 😅
