Really sucks that they're doing it this way too because that dialogue between her and Negan coming to an understanding at the end of season 11 was really good. And this is just kinda shitting all over it and making me dislike Maggie again. She was fucking unbearable during the first half of season 11 because she was trying to go so far out of her way to find reasons to shit on Negan and she's doing it again here. The scene where she's explaining to Ginny about "how bad of a man" Negan is so fucking disingenuous from her because she knows it's not true anymore. And she's trying to turn the one good thing Negan currently has to care about against him, knowing what happened with his wife and kid.

I don't think so. I think it's just a nod to the last of us 2 based on the same premise. In the last of us 2 the rat king was basically the result of very early infected combining with each other over the span of many years in a small space. But the walkers in TWD don't physically evolve like that, they're just rotting flesh. More likely there was just so many piled on top of each other that they just kinda melted and fused together.

The one plot thread that seems to have been forgotten (hopefully the next 2 shows will have to deal with this) is the upgraded walkers we saw at the end of The Walking Dead & World Beyond. The ones the can problem solve, run in packs and are starting to run. I imagine running would change a lot of the dynamic of the show - how they deliver dialogue and handle action scenes for example. If these new walkers (now runners) can literally run you down then so much for hand to hand combat.

Nahh that walker king is not gonna be some recurring walker „variant“. The name comes from when many rats are in a small place pressed together, their tails get intertwined/stuck together because of the feces, urine, blood, etc. and then its called a „rat king“. Here it made sense that walkers would get grafted into one big walker, but i dont see it happen again or maybe once or twice for some „endlevel boss“

I thought for a long time that Maggie was the mole. Called her plan to exchange Negan for her son from the start. I also thought she was trying to frame that guy who "found" the oxygen tanks for her own handiwork, but it turned out he actually was the mole lol. I don't blame Maggie though. Of course she has PTSD. I often read comments of people who say "it's been so long, she should just get over it by now". But that's not how it works when you have PTSD. The fact that she's even functioning as well as she still does is to be recommended honestly.

I think that lady that is the boss is some sort of former actress. The whole theatre vibe and the way she talks about endings. Plus the pic in her room looks like of her in her younger days. Don't think she is with CRM cause she talks about how they want bring the ways of the old world back and she seems opposed to the Idea of that. Most likely reffering to New Babylon and the Marshalls. I think she just wants Negan to recruit him into her cause or and make him a leader of sorts.

If they were gonna kill off the two new people they might as well have used them to make the walker king more intimidating but no. I thought this episode was rather interesting like you said we got different perspectives into these characters. Negan's side, Maggie's side and the Croat. Each of them has story to tell which to me and is enjoyable. I'm still team Negan tho and Maggie not telling anything to him about Jeannie welll. And jeanie ultimately seeing thru maggies BS. i was excited. So I can't wait to see how that unfolds.

The Croat drives away and goes to the theatre to see the Doma like all his people are dead, but they're not, they just relocated right? It was kinda weird how, instead of fighting Maggie and the rooftop people, they just left and let the stadium be flooded with walkers, I was expecting more of a battle

There is one thing that just isnt clicking for me about the whole Maggie reveal(which I called from the beginning :) ). Her plan was to trade Negan for Hershell, right? So...why didnt she?! Instead of doing what the Croat told her to, they snuck in MSG and tried to free Hershell/kill the Croat. So did she really do anything that bad? One could argue that she put Hershell at risk FOR Negan and chose to go after the Croat instead of giving Negan up... right?

I think it’s mostly nods to other successful properties (in this shows case it’s Resident Evil and The Last of us) but it does come eerily close to pass it off as it’s own. Stuff like Stranger Things obviously references tons of 80s movies and media but it does it in a very obvious way. TWD has always referenced other zombie media in different ways but Dead City does feel different in that regard.

I think the walker king was an interesting addition. But the thing that bugs me about these "variants" they're introducing is that they're the same walkers that were in the first season. They could all run, one of them broke glass with a rock, there were climbers. During the final season they made sure to focus on one walker that picked up a rock, then made sure to focus on him breaking the glass. At first I thought they were showing a variant, but now I think it was a call back to the first season. I'm doing a rewatch right now, currently at the part where they made it seem like Glenn died with Nicholas. So it could be lazy writing that they're reintroducing these faster, smarter walkers, or maybe they're doing call backs. Either way, it's an interesting full circle thing imo. First season they were extremely dangerous, they were faster, smarter, (also had different movements and made different noises) and stronger. Now they're getting back to that same level of dangerous.
