I think my only complaints are the werewolf randomly teleporting into the car at the end, like that's a horror trope that annoys me. He clearly ran off so when did he have time to get in the car without Troy noticing unless there were 2? Also the buildup was pretty solid but it could have built up just a tiny bit more tension before the big reveal. Otherwise it was FANTASTIC, the acting was great, though it kind of relied on Troy doing stupid things they all tracked with what we saw of his personality. I really liked the twist at the end. The sound design was great. I loved that the short worked very well WITH the car's technology instead of against it. And of course the werewolf looked INCREDIBLE! Overall, excellent work!

The setting was amazing. Gave me vibes of the movie Howl. When Morning came I saw this was nothing more than a Farmers access road between 2 open fields I was very impressed. With the ominous music, fog, and camera angles I had this suspenseful feeling that Tyler was deep in the woods. The only thing that caught me at first as a little annoying was the fact he was backing up instead of turning around. But I get that had to be sold to pull off the tense feeling of backing up and trying to stay on the road. The werewolf itself was pretty good way better than in Battledogs, but slightly less than dog soldiers.

A great summary of the film! There’s definite Dog Soldiers in the design of the werewolf for sure. Didn’t like Howl, thought it was very weak, but I can see why it could fall into the same world. Not heard of Battledogs?? Any good?

@@DarkMatterFilms first just wanted to be sure we were talking about the same Howl. There is the 2015 British movie and the 2021 Movie. I was referring to the 2015 version where i got the same ominous feeling from them being stranded on the train as Tyler being on the dead end road and backing up. the 2021 version is hailed as a retelling of red riding hood. Battledogs had a good story line, ok acting, but the werewolves looked CGI and were watchable but could have been better.

@@jeffreygerber7771 I think its the 2015 one I saw, it was on a train - thought the trapped idea was good, just remember the implementation and logic of the film having holes the size of a train tunnel lol! Didn't know about 2021 version so I'll check that out. CGI werewolves are usually the bane of any movie. Used sparingly like Dead End does they can work, but I'm all for an actor in a practical hairy costume any day

@@DarkMatterFilms yeah the 2015 UK version l felt had the same vibe as this in the sense of once realizing what your dealing with and how to handle it stuck in the middle of nowhere. If this had been longer they could have drug it out like Howl(2015) did where the train was broken down and they had ot fix it. But if ya watch the 2021 version be prepared it's not a traditional werewolf movie. I'ts a psychological twist on the writers version of red riding hood. it takes some struggling to make it through the movie. But my Motto is once I start a werewolf or vampire movie I struggle through to the end no matter how bad. And I agree give me a good make up artist and costume designer and I'm happy. I loved the werewolves in Dog soldiers(as well as the plot and acting), but the best IMO was the one from Bad Moon, That costume was amazing. Little tidbit= Sean Pertwee played the soldier leading the troops in Dog Soldiers He also Played the Conductor of the train in Howl(2015) and His Dad I believe played Dr. Who I think he was the one famous for carrying the bag of jelly babies with him and always offering it to what ever alien race they encountered.

I’ve really enjoyed this one! This was a solid horror short. Great use of darkness and available practical light, good suspense and good story all together! What unfortunately really bothered me is that the video minimizes the moment the credits start and that’s a real shame. I couldn’t even read the names of the people who participated in the making of this while watching it on the TV! Sure, not every KZbin viewer stays for the credits but the people that work on small passion projects do. If not for them, for who?

Maybe Connor sabotaged it while Tyler was behind the vehicle shooting at shadows, then replaced the part he'd swiped in the morning. This is clearly one case where the werewolf retains his mind as a beast.

If you look carefully the road drops off steeply to either side, even a range river would struggle with that manoeuvre. The filmmakers picked that location for a reason 😉

Very good cinematography and atmosphere on this. I really like the use of the brake lights as a light source, it gives the scene a lot of tension. However, this short suffers from a big problem in the suspension of disbelief - why would Troy not turn the car around? Why reverse in this one long stretch of road? Just makes no sense. I know that the brake sensors were a key part of the tension and buildup of the scene, but it just makes no sense to me.

Thanks for your thoughts. This keeps coming up as a point and maybe this is down to it being too moodily graded but the road falls down on either side into a dip. The car cannot manoeuvre so he has to reverse. Glad you enjoyed it otherwise though!
