Hippos are the third largest land mammal and weigh approximately 3,000 pounds. While many crocodiles prey upon other animals, they frequently scavenge dead carrion. Crocs also have the most acidic stomach of any vertebrate and can easily digest horns, hooves, bones, hides, and even hippos.
