Something I never see mentioned about this game that I'm not sure many know about and I hope it's in the sequel was the dynamic controls for attacking. You could actually pick the direction your attacks would go instead of just hitting the attack button and that was an immersive feature I wish more zombie games had

That’s how I play the first game! It’s so much better you have full control of your attacks. It makes fighting Thugs so much easier you can cut off or break their arms before you attack their heads lol so cool

My favorite part of dead island, was the ability to change how you attack, from what I remember you held down the left trigger or something and would move the right stick in the direction you want to strike. Hope they keep this feature

One thing that seems to be forgotten in many reviews of Dead Island, and what I believe created a very fun and immersive experience, was the analog combat. Where the player could manually control the swing of weapons with the analog sticks, choosing to aim to decapitate, or crack kneecaps, or melee that spiked bat upwards into bent over zed's face. That was absent from Dying Light, and I didn't see it mentioned in your video. Any indications if this feature has been added and returning in Dead Island 2?

The first dead island really wasn’t open world either. It was a few big maps all connected throughout a story but they were still separate maps. So I’m not worried about that. I just hope there’s a lot of quests to keep us busy.

As someone who's gotten sick and absurdly tired of open world games, it's absolutely refreshing to see more games take on the linear but open-ended approach. Why? Cuz the flow of the game actually has direction and progress with variety that keeps adding up as you play. I'm also that rare fan of the era of games that were more linear back then. From games like the original God of War entries, Dante's Inferno, Max Payne games, Splinter Cell series, Left 4 Dead campaigns, The Evil Within 1 and 2, Resident Evil franchise, and so on, I believe we need more.

I absolutely loved the first game. I cannot express how disappointed I am that the sequel is set in the U.S., and especially in California. I don't want a bunch of cheesy, sarcastic American humor. I don't want this game set in a part of the world I'm familiar with. One of the things that made the first game so great is that it's set in an exotic location. Also highly disappointed that Techland didn't do this, but I'm sure most people are disappointed by that as well. When this game was first announced, it was incredibly exciting. Now, it's incredibly meh.

Worth mentioning it's a gameplay-focused title for it's genre, narrative driven, if the story didn't deliver then it's purposely delivered as a sense of direction and for players to digest while they have fun with the sandbox gameplay. Don't let perfectionism be the struggle of a great game, I'd be a 7-8* at it's best and it's fine for it's sub-genre.

The lack of an open world is something I’m personally okay with because that’s how the first game was. It had areas to explore but was mainly linear. I just hope like DI1, there’s various changes in scenery in each district. Ie the Resort, City, and Prison from DI1
