As a native Long Islander I've been to the Sunrise mall more times then I can count as a kid I used to love that elevator and I feed those Coy fish like bread peices (yes ik I wasn't supposed to but I was like 6 lol) I haven't been there in over a year and it was really going out then and now to watch this its so sad to see it in such a bad state

I remember many years back driving around looking for a parking space. The mall was crowded with people. At the time, who could of imagined a future like this?

I remember when the Mall was an old drive-in theater. I watched them build it and went there all the time as a teenager. Bought my concert tickets to see Eric Clapton there. The tickets were 8.00 dollars. So sad it will be gone. Loved Massapequa. Great place to grow up in the 60's and 70's. Miss it still.

Great video! I worked for Remington Products for a few years back in 2001-2003 it was located right near Kay Jewelers by the main elevator. I miss those times so much because my family was alive & well. I still remember having the biggest crush on this girl named Krista who worked at Naturalizer it was a shoe store across from me, I should’ve asked her out. I miss driving home on Sunrise Highway when it snowed. I still cannot believe this mall is now dead, it’s in a great area & plenty of people with $$$$ there too. I’m in AZ now, but Long Island will forever be my Home!!

I worked at Nathan's in the Sunrise Mall back in 1976. It was actually a pretty fun job.

I really liked the news transition in the beginning of the video. Does anyone know if this mall is still open to visit one last time?

The doors are locked but you can sneak in through multiple entrances. There might be a way through Macys but I know you can definitely get in through that big garage at 0:49 There is a fire exit door you can open and get in

That was great. Thank you. I miss malls. And I loved Hot Topic back in the early 2000s. If there are any still open, they are not as cool as they used to be.

A couple of times when I took a day off from work, I'd go to this Mall & chill for an hour & get a bite at the food court. I'll miss this place.

There are several ways to save this shopping center and make it profitable. First thing ID to make it easier to get into , open up the small roads that are all closed up. They just end with a fence at the edge of the Mall Parking Lot. Half the reason why people stopped going there was because it was a pain in the a$$ to get into. Secondly, add Real Restaurants in their own buildings in the corners of the mall parking lot. Add in Gas Stations to the Perimeter of the Parking Lot there. It will encourage people to visit the property and make it part of their regular place to go to buy gas. Even put a car dealership on the property.

My Mom loved the Sunrise Mall. My Mom is gone and so is the mall. This is bittersweet to watch. More bitter though.
