Hey bro I know its a tough pill to swallow and you dont wanna even think about building something in that spot but this is what you do. Its what you love. Its also part of what your subs live to watch. Take some time off and come back and build it better then the one you just tore down. On another note I had the same thing happen to me about 15 years ago and what I did after probably saved me from doing it again. What I did was got a bell and when ever I would be taking plugs out of outlets when I was done I would ring the bell to signify that I am done and all the plugs are back in the outlets. It may sound stupid but after a few times you never forget the bell. It kept my fish safe until the day I backed it all up. Get yourself a bell and give it a try man. Keep your head up bro. We all make mistakes it part of being human.

Zak , Been here myself , but not the size and quantity of loss . Yes many factors cause loss . Best I can recommend is to have separate pump's hooked up to different outlets on separate circuits . Airation is key you know. Been able to save a few after the stress and bloating. You have to relieve the swelling you know and get water moving over the gills . I learned from my mistakes and have become more aware of what will prevent it. Invest in a small generator and a pump in case the power goes out ever . It's disheartening !

Sorry for late response. I just viewed your video tonight. I live in AZ where it usually 100 to 115 degrees every day in summer. I am in planning stage for a outdoor setup using a pool like you have. I bought a small ac unit for my shed and am going to pump my water into a kiddie pool in the very cold shed (i just installed insulation foam board to shed) then run it back out to the pond pool in summer time. I am hoping it might act as chiller for me. I also plan to install 2 or 3 solar air pumps outside for the pool/pond so even if i have power outage they have oxygen and if all is good its more free air. Im thinking of running a water pump on solar with the air pump too. Still planning that part out. BTW : Your pleco lived because in wild they dig into the river embankments and form a cave using their body slime to seal it up during the dry season. They stay there until the river fills back up again . I found that out researching because I once had my pleco jump out of tank I was on vacation. i found it dried out, body stuck to floor. I thought it was dead, i was using putty knife to scrape it off floor and its eyes moved. i put it back in the tank and it lived for about 2 weeks but eventually died. sorry this happened to you. Maybe some of my Arizona ideas for heat will help you in Florida.
