Some signs that Lex was completing the Easter Egg the whole time: Lex gets the free alistair's folly by completing the puzzles. You can see him running around with it for pretty much the whole game, as well as seeing the gun case be empty. Also, Lex is constantly on other side of the map as the rest of the crew, making sure to keep his distance as to not be found out. Noah at one point finds the Chaos Theory upgrade, thinking he built it, when in reality Lex had built it, and he was just upgrading his gun. At 21:00 You can see lex doing the latern step on the left. He unlocks the Bat Materia, but Noah picks it up, not realizing it is a vital easter egg step. Shortly after, when Noah and Chop were trying to solve the Latern step, you can see Lex completing the Atlas Statue step through the walls. Later Noah remarks on a completion sound for one of the steps of the easter egg. This was Lex completing a step. At 36:23, Noah attempts to do the Atlas step, but fails. He notices the boxes are closed, so he thinks he isn't on that step yet. In reality, Lex had already completed it, and the rings of the statue are gone due to its completion. At 42:20 You can see Lex using the Annihilator to complete an easter egg step. This part is funny because Lex realizes Noah's prescence and dips as fast as he can, and Noah starts trying to do the step he saw Lex doin moments earlier. At 43:09, Noah remarks on how JC collected vampire bile, when in fact it was Lex at 42:20 At 48:14 the vampire bile disappears when they shoot the ground. This was a coincidence, as at the same time Lex used it to build the annihilator. At 49:23, Lex obtained the Stake. Noah notices the Godfrey quote, but doesn't connect the dots. At 59:10 Lex asks where the Zeus perk is, in order to complete more steps of the EE. 1:13:17 foreshadowing ;) Finally, throughout the game when Noah pulls up his scoreboard you can see the Easter Egg map progress on the left, despite the Noah, Chop, and JC failing to complete any of the steps.
