I think that the reason why Vince slapped Rody when he was apologizing for dropping the trash was to distract himself from the sight of Rody's blood. If you replay the scene you'll notice how it seems like Vince is entirely focused on Rody's sliced finger and how said injury is even emphasized along with Vince's extremely widened eyes. He's not paying attention to anything Rody is saying, and he slaps him out of the blue, as if to snap *himself* out of his trance. That man was HUNGRY for Rody. Literally.

Isn't it possible Vincent might be suffering from Prion disease? Its something you get from handling meat contaminated with prions which are a type of protein that can trigger normal proteins in the brain to fold abnormaly. A great game!! The character design and the backgrounds were adorable (well... cannibalism aside haha), the dialogues between Vincent and Rody fun and compelling (and cute, well... cannibalism aside haha)! I wish there were more endings because the possibilities!! What would have happened if Rody had actually eaten the dishes Vincent made after his shifts (not to mention his fridge is empty and doesn't cook himself so it'd have been a change for once?)? Did it taste like the 'loveless' cuisine from his restaurant or did it feel genuine? What would have happened if Rody mentioned he ate them (either oblivious, during one of his shifts or when he runs away from Vincent the last day) - and perhaps liked them? Could there have been a route where Rody learned the truth and neither he nor Vincent died? Could there have been a route where Vincent would've decided not to kill Manon, because he found an answer more fulfilling with Rody (eg. he tasted his food, a romance route and somehow he'd find his taste back?)? I'm curious about Rody's background, teased when his old classmate was at Vincent's! (It also makes me wonder if Vincent and Rody attended the same university and Vincent somehow noticed him / approached his old classmate to learn more about him!) Rody looked terrified-TERRIFIED when he asks if he switched majors like... ? AND ALSO Vincent's past!! More about his taste loss, his family (we have a picture of what could've been his mother?)! One thing I noticed on the Day 3 scene is how Rody's lines (before Vincent slaps him) are fading away and shrinking, as though his voice is actually being drowned out because Vincent's attention is only focused on Rody's blood dripping, highlighted in bright red against the dull grey background! Vincent's slap could have been to distract both himself from the trance/hunger he was in before the blood and Rody from whatever was in the trash and cut him. Oh and if someone ever has the answer: what was the whole looking out the window for once Rody's home? Was the restaurant (and where Vincent lives) right across his apartment (which could mean the lights were always on because Vincent was watching him?)?

answering these to the best of my abilities based on what the devs have said (and also my interpretation of their characters): 1. Rody never once ate any of the leftovers that Vincent gave him, but yes it would have tasted the same as the other food from his restaurant. The fact that Vincent made it specifically for him would not have changed this fact. Vincent’s cooking in combination with his inability to taste seems to be a metaphor for post-traumatic human connection, in which no matter how he tries, he’s unable to create/connect in a way that feels genuine or meaningful. If Rody somehow liked the food Vincent didn’t cook it. Even if there was a route where they both lived, they would still end up finding each other one way or another and killing each other then. 2. The game would be very different. Originally, Rody was supposed to work at the bistro for a month, and the game would take place over the last week before quitting/dying. However, they changed that fact so it takes place over the course of the week. In the original month, Rody would talk extensively about his ex-girlfriend to Vincent and how much he loved her, while Vincent simultaneously tries to get Rody to like his food. He tells Vincent he’s going to quit in a week, and as a desperate last-ditch attempt to get him to stay, he kills and cooks the love of his life, so that he may finally taste ‘love’ (literally) in his food. In the final product of the game, this is all the same except this time, Vincent kills and cooks Manon on the second day of meeting Rody (for the same reasons). Killing Manon was a spur of the moment decision, and if anything went differently, it’s possible Vincent wouldn’t have ended up killing her. However, a romance route is very highly unlikely for the reasons a) Rody doesn’t like Vincent as a person and b) Rody’s homophobic (internalised biphobia yes, but homophobic nonetheless). Vincent will never find his sense of taste back- he is doomed to be miserable in every universe as Rachel said. 3. Vincent went to a school for the culinary arts. Rody was majoring in hospitality at the same university Richard majored in economics. Vincent and Rody did not know each other prior to the events of the game afaik. Rich people tend to know each other from mingling at parties. Rody was a huge douchebag in college, which he flunked out of, and both are reasons why he’s ashamed of talking about it to other people and embarrassed when he sees Richard again. 4. Yes that is his mother. This is the only thing about Vincent’s backstory that is confirmed. However, my theory is that Vincent was part of a house fire when he was a child (hence the painting of the burning home right next to his bed), smoke inhalation causing brain damage (lost sense of taste, lack of empathy) and hand tremors (he doesn’t actually cook in the bistro, his handwriting is visually terrible, and he doesn’t play the cello anymore). People tend to say that food is the way to a man’s heart, and Vincent probably took up cooking to learn how to better connect with other people (which evidently didn’t work). 5. The day 3 scene’s trash bag contained the weapon Vince used to kill Manon. He freaked out and slapped Rody because he was scared Rody found out about it. When he realised he didn’t, though, he quickly bandaged Rody up again. Though I think the idea that he’s going insanely thirsty for Rody’s blood is very delicious. 6. This one’s a bit shaky, even the developers are a bit ehh about it. In the final few days, you can see the silhouette of someone watching Rody from the building. Rix said he’d like this person to be Manon’s ghost, though it’s somewhat up to interpretation.

Children are affected by any horror and when you become an adult you become a person who has their mental health effected when they watch things or you become neutral, but all children would be affected by anything horror, disturbing, etc.

When I was 14 I ended up in the hospital cause I was suicidal, but guess what made it worse? Watching shit where characters kill people and watching stuff like this game. I don't know how old you are, and I honestly don't care if you want to be edgy and say “I'm not like everyone else because I'm special and I can handle horror.” I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about how it affects your mental health if you already have issues. If you have mental health problems and aren't properly medicated, games like this just make it worse. You're probably what, 13-14, and think you are super special and mature and know everything. I'm going to break it to you, everyone is human. Everyone is affected by shit online, especially if you have pre-existing mental health problems. You can't just binge horror movies for a week and expect that to not change your mindset for the next week. And if you're even younger than 13? You shouldn't even be watching this game it is for adults, play a game for your age group instead of trying to be a 20-something-year-old who's super cool and believes you are above everyone in your age group because you watched an edgy video on KZbin. Almost every child is like that. I was like that. You will still be affected babe.

@@cactusbuds2979 I think you misunderstood the point of my comment. I wasn't trying to come off as "edgy" and "mature" because I watch gore. In fact, I don't watch it, and I hate horror movies too. I simply wanted to state that the gore in this game doesn't really spook me, but again maybe I'm simply less sensible. I appreciate the concern though, but I personally feel like that until now, I think that I don't have a problem with my mental health, because again, I don't consume gore content at all. I'm just interested in this game because of the storyline and the message. I do know that people my age probably shouldn't be watching this, but I feel like I'm good enough to grasp the concepts or this story and what's good or bad. It's just that your assumption that I'm trying to be mature for my age kind of hurts.
