dead space 2 is one of those rare and beautiful sequels in which its reputation has changed from "it's a shame there was no story work from warren ellis this time" to "oh thank god, there was no story work from warren ellis this time"

@@SomeOne-vf1rsLooked up Warren Ellis. He’s some popular writer, worked on comic books and wrote for some shows. Apparently fell into controversy. No idea if OP is referring to the controversy or if Warren Ellis’s story (whatever it would’ve been) was pretty poor compared to what we got for Dead Space 2.

Something I loved about DS2 was that they justified the increase number of necromorphs you encounter compared to the first game. What do I mean? I mean, instead of a space ship with 1000 members; some of whom are still alive based on what others have observed. It’s now a immensely populated colony, god knows *how* many people were killed and reanimated, which adds a neat little “When you think about it” kind of horror.
@d3rpybac0n83
@d3rpybac0n83 2 жыл бұрын
The thing that the marker does at the end of the game is called a Convergence Event which takes all the the mass from the necromorph bodies that are near by the marker to build a Brethren Moon. Brethren moons are big sentient necromorph moons that travel space and kill all life on any planet they can! Fun!

OKAY SO, Dead Space 3. It has far more action for sure. And shamefully inferior to the second instalment, there are some wonderful moments. And where the horror shines is funnily enough in the Co-op only levels. If you can, get yourself a friend to play through it with you. And the Awakened DLC while not perfect is still pretty fun. Worth a shot. Not as good as 2. pick it up on sale maybe

I would highly implore you to give Dead Space 3 a chance. But there is a catch. You need to play it in co-op. Which of course pretty much tosses all the leftover horror elements out of the window when you are laughing at your buddy being accosted by necromorphs. But still it is one of the best co-op experiences I had ever head. Is DS3 a bad DS game? perhaps. is it a bad game? Not at all. The push to action also is not as big as people claim. Like yeah there was cover mechanic added but I don't ever remember using it after tutorial since 80% of time you fighting necromorphs anyway and you need to stay mobile. The weapon crafting mechanic is enjoyable quite a lot and the in game store is absolutely not required and can be ignored. Eitherway thanks for the vid, it was very fun and hope you will give DS3 a chance at some point.

With all due respect, but personally I found ''Inside'' a confusing mess, which starts well with an interesting premise, but gets ridiculous towards the end due to the characters becoming quite braindead (an opinion I think applies to the first Human Centipede as well). Therefore, out of the movies you mentioned (I havent seen the 3rd one), "Martyrs" is the recommendation I truly agree with you on, since imo it is a true and consistent horror experience. I mean, I doubt I will ever be able to watch that movie ever again, but I am glad I did, as it is a journey like no other. Oh, right... Dead Space 2.... Yeah - I replayed it recently, and I still think it is the best one out of the 3, but in retrospect there are some issues with it. The biggest one for me is that some of the dialogue was quite cliche and/or corny even before it was released, so I dont consider it the masterpiece I did when it came out. If you want fun, though, I think DS 3 gameplay wise is the one Ive replayed the most, and probably due to the fact it is more of an action game, but the setting and atmosphere overall, as well as the lore imo was equally as great as the first 2 games. What drags it down, unfortunately is the developers doubling down on the cheese in the story, and since the cutscenes arent skipable, they really make repeat playthroughs a slight chore. Anywho, Im new to your channel, and your videos have been wonderful thus far. *SUBSCRIBED*

Great video, I've come from the iron lung video and been watching all your content it's all great you earned a subscriber.👍 But I got a gripe with a part of your video, using fnaf as an example saying this about it 3:21 I couldn't disagree more here's why. ↓↓↓↓ c'mon fnaf is more than that, it has strategy and learning the animatronics movements there's a lot of effort put into the the sound design then just loud jumpscares, I highly recommend a video by scruffy about it. Also about the jumpscares in fnaf are handled very well imo they don't just happen out of nowhere they're the players fault for not keeping an eye or ear out for the animatronics and so the animatronic got in. The jumpscare doesn't just pop up to make your ears bleed then leaves, it's like getting shot in the head in a multiplayer shooter it kills you it's and you have to restart the night it's a consequence. It's fair to say that the more you die in fnaf it's not as scary anymore which is true, but that goes with every horror game but with fnaf if you beat the night, the next one gets harder and adds more enemies. That you know nothing about and that can be tense having to learn they're mechanics and movements. Fnaf has great atmosphere I can understand if fnaf doesn't scare people because different things scare different people, like I found layers of fear and other P.T clones don't scare me at all and kind of boring, but fnaf scares me and I find the gameplay engaging and fun Also the whole fnaf made specifically made for youtube thing can suck my dick, I 100% believe fnaf would not be where it is now if youtubers didn't play it. But still just because it got popular on youtube doesn't mean all the games are made so markiplier can over react and matpat can make theories, the only game made like that are hello neighbor and poppy playtime.

I liked ds1. Being alone the whole time really pumped the anxiety. And being a silent protagonist really makes you feel more alone. Fills one with dread. The sequel wasn't the same though... People. FEAR 1 and Dead space 1 i would consider the best of them for horror, though dead space 2 suceeded there where FEAR 2 did not as well, the sequels were faster but still decent horror dead space 2 being superior too FEAR 2 in this regard. and then FEAR 3 and Dead Space 3 happened , though dead space 3 story was decent it was the gameplay that changed in fairness isaac by that time would be so tired he wouldnt be afraid anymore but it was too fast and FEAR 3 definitely felt more like COD

First i want to make a counter point to the statement at 2:08 God of war did it first at least 2 did (never had the chance to play 1) Gow2 had one continuous adventure actually im pretty sure every god of war did so no, deadspace didnt do it first and gow reboot just continued its tradition. As for my experience with deadspace When i got into deadspace i wanted to find a proper horror game that would actually scare me because i just finished sillent hill 2 back then and all horror games didn't hold a candle anymore and i couldnt get that same dread feeling from sh2 in any other horror game So i went to play deadspace. For some reason i started with 2 because more or less i knew how 1 went down so i didnt bother back then, and well i definitely did not find any good horror in that game... What i did find instead was probably the best fucking third person action shooter i ever played that game was so fucking fire i didnt even care no more that it didnt fulfill the purpose of which i wanted to play it.

Your opinion on Dead Space, and how you praise DS2 mmmm... I'm not in your boat. DS1 was a masterpiece the horror the tension and was the classical game were your protagonist doesn't talk thus not having the chance of becoming a moron and yet able to tell you the story of the ishimura. The second game neither knew how to build the horror nor to create a story and well... at least Isaac doesn't become a moron. The action wasn't as fun as expected, the problem for me is that it took all the good stuff of the first game and make it like cheap, probably what happens when you use the thinks that liked to people but is just fan service. Monsters weren't scary as the first game because no matter how many of them the game throws you always have enough ammo or resources to fight because the game is an "action" game. And the cinematics of some big necromorphs or tendrils that come at you, that is what I meant for fan service, the tentacle in the corridor of DS1 is legendary first time in history that someone made that shit, but it becomes some how cheap in the second game, again not because the encounter is bad perse but because the building pf tension is blow of the window as well of the horror when the main focus is action. To emphasise this last point, you said there's different kinds of horrors but gore horror is not horror, you yourself just pointed how "fun" it is. The first game is not gore, is bodyhorror the kind of horror you can see in a Cronenberg movie and masterfully merged with cosmic horror like in Event Horizon. The idea that a alien is not physical but a force that can twist your flesh, your mind and your soul. I understand that if the story must continue Isaac must become something more than a vehicle to drive the plot and be part of the plot but to me was a complete disappointment nonetheless your video is cool enough to make me want to play again the game because I forget a lot, if I remember more probably I would rant more about it but ok I just gonna give it another try and I will come back when I finish the game.
@mikehasabike
@mikehasabike 2 жыл бұрын
DS1 is overrated, it didn't know whether to be a slow burning horror game like System Shock 2 or loud as RE4. DS2 is better in every regard except for the atmosphere. DS1 was annoying because of how much fetch quest you have to do, the story is basically Event Horizon if the characters weren't so likeable. And the tentacle scene isn't needed to be honest in 2, it quickly lost its novelty once you know its behavior.
