The fact that they got a developer on the commentary couch is so cool

Totally. And he seemed like a nice dude

Idk if he mentions it since I’m only 5mins into vid, but he speedruns it as well and has helped find tricks as well as keeping tricks from being patched out

@@christwydHe says he was a quality designer, so makes sense that he'd be decent at speed running it based on my VERY limited understanding of the job. Back when Bethesda did in-house speedrun tournaments, it was always the QA guys that came on top

the amount of runs this year with devs on the couch felt like way more than previous years and i love it! its so cool to hear their insights.

I love that a solid chunk of the tech in this game is just slamming Isaac's head into a wall with a metal crate to get out of bounds, it's great.

Wow, more developer presence at these speed runs if possible, please! Having the design philosophy from the developers and how runners circumvent them is such a cool insight on how games are made in general. Very interesting stuff!

Dead Space was one of those games I felt didn't need a remake, until I played the remake that is. Motive absolutely nailed it and it's up there with resident evil 1 remake in terms of quality.

quality? mostly but not for the performance on PC which is still horrible and they will not patch it..

@@overdev1993 I'm not a PC gamer so I didn't know the port was bad.

@overdevmodding it has been improved a lot since launch, though. It was really good when I played through it a couple of months ago, way better than many other recent games. I was actually surprised by how well it ran and didn't have any issues throughout the whole game.

For me they botched it, only because of Issacs ridiculous moving speed. It feels so unnatural and comical i cant take the game serious. Original movement were done by a guy literally tied up to rubber bands. The movement felt heavy. The suit he is wearing is suppose to weight a bit. The remake feels likes the game is on 1.5 speed all the time.

@@aguywhonoticed9061 to me Isaac's movement felt like it did in Dead Space 2.

Always a blast seeing Sharkhat and that whimsical hat of his, great run and the dev on commentary couch was icing on the cake

Between having an actual dev on the couch and all the fun silly skips and heartfelt donations, this is definitely up there in terms of all time best AGDQ runs. Really deserved to have a much bigger crowd attendance!

One of my favorite games of all time! Just finished the remake myself and watching this now is a blast. Insane to see Shark blast through parts that took me literal hours lol and a dev on the couch?! such a great run and great show!

i fuckin love when devs are on the couch for games. Both when they have no idea what they're going to be seeing and everything is a marvel of "Oh no, my game is so much more broken than I thought", or when they're in on the shit and can put a lot more behind-the-scenes insight into how all the exploits work. Every time this guy runs a game I think "Why is he wearing a shark hat?" and then I look at his username and, like, "oh. okay. right." i didn't know there was a dead space remake last year.

was so awesome to have a dev not only present, but really engaging with the run. the other runs i can remember where a dev was present, it was more a reaction or just occasional trivia., so cool to see him giving lots of extra details! can't lie... the original Dead Space was little more than a buggy mess to me... may have to give the remake a shot and see if it can redeem the series for me

The first five to tenish minutes of both the original and remake are essentially a long unskippable cutscene where nothing really happens so it just makes sense to have a save state that starts immediately after that so no one has such a huge time deficit. Many other speed games do this if they have long unskippable intros like Half-Life just as one example.

One and two were good games. 2 was the best. I never beat pre-sequal. That was meh, to me. 3, was fun game play wise, but the story made a lot of people mad. Wonderlands... i don't know what to say about it. I played it for about 2 hours. It was fun and funny, but not really as engaging to me. I never bothered to finish it. So i would agree that it is at a pretty low point. Game play wise, they are good, but the next story, and the character development needs to knock it out of the park.
