Dead Space (2023) - Game Review

As somebody who thought Dead Space didn’t need a remake and that this was going to be a cash grab, I was blown away. This is honestly on par with the Resident Evil 1 remake for me.

@@engalipak I would actually place it above the RE2 remake since I was a little disappointed with how the ladder implemented the A/B scenarios from the original.

Dead Space Remake is the one horror game remake that I would consider VERY close to perfection just next to Resident Evil 1 Remake. I wasn't that attached to the original and I prefer Dead Space 2 over it but man, Motive did an amazing job at not just remaking a classic but improve upon the problems with the OG in almost every way. I loved Resident Evil 2 Remake and enjoyed RE3 remake but those are more of reimaginings of the classic games, thus sufferring from cut content. They are great, no doubt but Dead Space Remake didn't cut anything. In fact, it added more content just like RE1 remake did. This is already a GOTY contender.

Been waiting almost a decade for at least some sort of continuation for this franchise, and what we got exceeded my initial expectations. A solid contender for the best of the series, or at least may closely rival Dead Space 2.

Its a close rival to Dead Space 2 for me. I played Dead Space 2 for the first time this year thanks to gamepass and at 60fps with FPS boost, its still fucking incredible and up to date. Only a remake as good as the remake of the first to top Dead Space 2.

My favorite KZbinr is back. Looked forward to this review. I don't have a ps5 so I am currently playing the original game on my ps3. Loving it. Hopefully I'll play the remake by the end of the year =)

the dungeons part of DS3 was a spark of genius that got missed out on and hope they return to it in a really interesting way in ds3. personally id like more survivors to consort with & necromorphs who's human hosts' consciousness so strong they gain sentience into a new ubermorph

Only on chapter 7 or 8 at the moment but absolutely loving it😁 I thought after Callisto, I wouldn't enjoy it as much just due to how close they were together in release and similarities in gameplay but my god, what a remake! Enjoyed the parts of your playthrough streams I was able to catch live. Great video Cody! Not long until RE4😁

This was 10x better than Callisto Protocol sure it’s a remake of a already great game but they made subtle changes that makes this even better than the original while still keeping the intensity, gameplay and atmosphere that made the series iconic, Callisto has a great concept that I hope they don’t give up on because Sci Fi horror is my absolute favorite type of horror but the enemies weren’t interesting, the story was predictable, it was pretty buggy ( Ik they fixed it but still I hated the state it was in at launch) and the gameplay got extremely repetitive after 3 hrs in

So excited to play it. Just got an Xbox series X. I tried to buy it for Xbox one s only to find that it's only out for next gen and pc. So thankfully I have the new Xbox and I can finally play this remake. And I had no idea deadspace 3 was hated. I love that game and the trilogy for that matter. Didn't know that.

I’m the same, I can’t stand silent protagonists, constantly interacting with people in this messed up environment & just being a mute, drives me nuts, that’s why I was thrilled when they announced that Isaac has a voice

RE2R and DSR are both near flawless for me. Hard choice. I think Nicole's character being "unloving" "odd" is that she's actually Elizabeth Cross, and not the real Nicole. I know you can track side missions on the map, but I do agree that custom tracking would be cool since the ship can be a maze. I don't necessarily mind that enemies respawn, but it can be somewhat annoying after you've entered a room 6 times, and a random baby pops out of a vent haha. My personal only criticism is the lack of a 180 degree quick turn.

The only downgrade was the voice actor for Hammond. The new guy doesn't have the iconic voice that Peter Mensah has.

What an awesome experience. Such a good balance of lovecraftian and body horror. Amazing visuals and gameplay too. Absolutely destroyed Callisto Protocol which wasn’t nearly as bad as its reviews claimed but kind of a diet dead space.
