@@Kobalt_Rax_the_one I definitely think the game isn't that bad NOW. At launch though, it was horrendous on my PC and that's fixable post launch but... you can't really fix its monotonous combat and lackluster story. On top of that, the horror vibe loses its credibility the first hour when all it does are jumpscares over suspense (atleast it did for me, I fell asleep while playing it, a horror game!). Even if you expect it to be its own thing, it still fails in more aspects than it succeeds. Its below average in its delivery of a survival horror game in spite of the graphical prowess and audio design of the engine. Moving forward, they should handle the well-deserved criticism they got for the sequel A perfect example of a horror game recently released in 2022 though is Signalis, can't praise that game enough!

That’s what I came here to say. They made him look more like younger Gunner Wright this time. Last time, they just suggested his looks, but they gave him the icy grey eyes and greyer hair. Yes, though--as a "purist" who knows that technically DS2 is a better game, I have always found it too bright and colorful to satisify something about my general Dead Space aesthetic--I love the dim and murky of the orginal that some critics (otherwise reasonably) single out for its "grayness" of pallet. For me, other than the black and red of the pools and trails of blood, the green of Issac's life-light and inventory--I love the brown and blue shadows all through it all.

I like the concept of the Brethern Moons. I like that there's an explanation behind Necromorphs and the Markers that doesn't actually ruin the horror of it but in fact takes Dead Space's mythos into a true cosmic horror direction. There's an Issac Aasimov quote they use at the start of XCOM: Enemy Unknown that says "Either we are alone in the universe or we are not. Either possibility is equally frightening." The Brethern Moons create a reality where both realities of that quote are true at the same time. It resolves the Fermi Paradox in the worst way imaginable. We are alone in the universe because there is a galactic apex predator that has evolved to prey on type 2 civilizations and creates a bait so perfect that no civilization has been able to escape them. And that includes ours. The final moments of the Dead Space 3 DLC reveal that humanity is doomed to extinction has several of these predatory moons descend on Earth, brought to our doomed planet thanks to the Necromorph outbreaks the Unitology cult started.

I feel like one thing they could do for DS3 to add back the horror aspect is add a Carver segment for single player and expand his narrative. Issac’s been through this show twice now so it’s hard to justify him still feeling fear and the strain of fighting necromorphs. But Carver is new to it all so his story made sense but it suffered because it was locked behind coop only. So adding him as a singleplayer option could bring back the horror element into the narrative without it being shoehorned into Issac’s perspective

I feel like one thing they could do for DS3 to add back the horror aspect is add a Carver segment for single player and expand his narrative. Issac’s been through this show twice now so it’s hard to justify him still feeling fear and the strain of fighting necromorphs. But Carver is new to it all so his story made since but it suffered because it was locked behind coop only. So adding him as a singleplayer option could bring back the horror element into the narrative without it being shoehorned into Issac’s perspective

I'm not sure if I'm gonna get it just cause of the price tbh. It's literally an old game that I've beat idek how many times.

I think that the new Issac's face in this one is modeled after the actual original Issac voice actor, so in a way i think it fits well

Dead Space 2 is one of my favorite games of all time but a Dead Space 3 remake with a reworked plot, no co-op, and no crafting would be so ace.

"Isaac, this is Hammond.....I need you to clear 50 rats from the bridge room. Kendra is disgusted by them." Good to know, they didn't do that.

Crazy times we are living in , people expected Rockstar to slam dunk their remakes but it was EA who did it , and did it amazingly well.

Not sure if you know this Matty but the reason they changed Isaac's face again is to make him look more like the voice actor Gunner Writght and personally I think it fits the game wayyyy more then the original did, but that's just me.

As someone who has not ever played this, you saying this is the definitive way to play was all I needed to hear.

Same here. I never played the original and the remake caught my interest, but I wanted to wait for the reviews first. I think I'll have to check it out now.

Important question: Are the chapter titles the same?
@kaineandrews3790 Жыл бұрын
Yes. I was both happy and sad about it; happy, because keeping the little touches matters. Sad, because I think it would have been interesting if they’d had a new message for us.

Great to hear. Original Dead Space is a true classic, its place is beside the likes of Bioshock, Deus Ex and Half Life. This remake needed to be handled with care and it sure looks like they pulled it off.

Really want this, but the £70 RRP (around £60 at some retailers) is just too much right now. I really hope this does well and I hope the higher Day 1 price doesn't put off too many other buyers

How bad is the strobing in the remake? I remember playing the original before I got sick with epilepsy. I wish I could play it again.

Imagine how the old devs must feel now that Callisto flopped and dead space remake is a smash hit

Dead Space 3 may not be what we wanted to be and had upper management meddling, but the game is still a good game. It may not be a good survival horror game. I can say that it's a good horror action game, and one of the best horror co-op games ever. We've got to stop just straight-up trashing it and discouraging people from playing it. It sucks they didn't get to make a proper Dead Space 3 but what we have is worth recommending and revisiting. They could actually remake Dead Space 3 and turn it into the survival horror game that it was meant to be. It would only take slight changes enemy encounters and ammo resources.

Dude, Isaac has the biggest dad face ever

I was also a little thrown off by Issacs friendly ‘dad face’. But then I realized he’s just an engineer with no formal combat training. So it makes more sense.

Glad they added a voice to issac giving him more character. And the graphics, gameplay mechanics upgrades were great. U can fly in space like the second game and not just the magnet boots.
