There’s absolutely nothing else like it. It’s not just about the numbers, such as the 0-60 in 3.5, or 710HP. It’s an experience. I own faster EV’s and they simply don’t compare. They’re almost clinical in comparison. They just don’t hit all of the senses. The smooth vibrations of the V8 engine, rumble of the exhaust, whine of the supercharger, etc. You hear it, feel it, smell it, everything. I’m keeping my Durango HC forever. All I can say is, get one while you can!

This whole EV movement is killing fun driving. No more V-8's or muscle cars. No fun drving, roaring exhaust, rubber burning fun to drive cars. No EV crap for me...I hope it fails miserably. None of this crap will do a thing to save the F'ing planet. What a disgrace. So glad I grew up in the 80's and have had the opportunity to drive my muscle cars, etc. I guess it will be used cars for the foreseeable future.

I have a Durango RT Premium and I love it more than I ever expected to. The 5.7 is the sweet spot in this vehicle as you can get the best fuel economy on the highway. The hurricane engine seems like it would be a good replacement when it comes to performance, economy, and towing. The only difference will be the exhaust note. I love the way mine sounds, but I would be fine with a different note if it came with more power and easily upgradable for even more power.

It's their business model. The Charger 300 started sale in 2005. And it was built on a Mercedes platform from the 80's. The Pacifica is the most innovative vehicle they've had in Almost 15 years. And I truly wish I was joking

This has been a long time coming. Stellantis famously gave Dodge & Chrysler a bunch money, a 5 year deadline, and a hands off environment free from meddling to become profitable. Maybe could blame Fiat for their starting point but then we can blame Chrysler for being bought out and bailed out in the first place. This lack of progress is all on Dodge.

I'm a little surprised you guys didn't mention the Durango being replaced by the rumored return of the Dodge Stealth, according to Motortrend. Possibly electric, possibly hybrid. It would make sense, since the Durango is aging - although gracefully. The Durango fills a very important segment - a 3rd row SUV (CUV?) that still has really decent towing capacity, adequate 3rd row legroom, and not (when not equipped with the big V8s) terrible fuel economy. There are many people out there who need something that still can pull the boat or camper, but not be a full-size SUV such as a Tahoe, Suburban (or GMC twins), or Expedition. This is still a very much desired platform, as evidenced by strong sales - even on an ancient platform.

Looking at the used models available around Ohio, it seems like >80% have the V6. So from a business perspective, keeping the V8 in the Durango probably didn't make a lot of sense. I just wonder if it hurts the identity of the brand enough to impact sales further down the lineup.

If they put the hurricane I6 in the new Durango, they better make it take 87 octane. Talking to a friend that sells jeeps, Said that ever since FCA killed the 5.7 in the Wagoneer and replaced it with the hurricane, sales are down. People test drive the Wagoneer, and like it but once they find out they have to put premium 91 in it they back out and no longer want it. They end up going for a Ford expedition, or chevy Tahoe.

Uh...the Wagoneer has the 3.0L SO and it takes 87 octane. Only the 3.0 HO takes 91. So Jeep replaced an engine that took 89 with one that takes 87. So how did the sales go down?
@markcoopers1930
@markcoopers1930 Жыл бұрын
"Premium fuel (91 octane) is required in the 510-hp version of the Hurricane I6." -Which is the only engine the Grand Wagoneer comes with currently. The regular Wagoneer has the 420 HP standard output which recommends 89, but won't instantly knock itself to pieces with 87. Same recommendations as the old hemi. Doesn't mean it will be good long term for the engine to use 87 though.

@Dusdaddy
@Dusdaddy Жыл бұрын
@@markcoopers1930 Actually no. In the Jeep owner's manual, it lists 87 for the I6 and 89 for the 5.7. And as far the Grand goes, the HO I6 replaced the 6.4 Hemi, which required 91 also so no change there. Besides, no one buying a $100k SUV is complaining about gas prices.

I'm gonna make an educated guess and say that the Durango will get a makeover for the new model year, sporting the I6, V6, and probably a hybrid. It'll then run for 4 years, then die, thus killing the dodge brand because the Wagoneer will take it's place. Let's see if I'm right.

So Chrysler makes minivans, Dodge makes Unibody SUV's* (Durango hasn't been body-on-frame since 2010), half of which they don't make themselves. And there's a chance the one they do assemble goes away. When do we change the vernacular so that "Jeep" is part of the "big 3" and reduce Chrysler-Dodge to the footnote it is? Dodge spent too much time developing sticker packs and fun special edition names, and based on the 300c's lack of anything special or unique I'm guessing they took Chrysler's lunch money to do even that. When they should have been developing multiple new products to be ready by now.

It’ll be nice with Dodge FINALLY offering new products- I used to be a die hard Mopar customer, but haven’t even looked at Dodge since 15’- my 15’ Charger Hellcat was a stretch for me just because of how outdated it was at that time even. I’ll be purchasing two new Chargers- once the i6TT becomes available I’m all over it, and my ‘14 Model S has 220k miles- will be replacing it with an 800v Charger. Dodge has atrophied into that niche automaker over the last decade and simply had nothing competitive to offer the masses- I.e. no efficient transportation that doesn’t cost a small fortune to daily drive 30k miles a year 😆 That was really sad for all of us long time Dodge customers that have always bought their mainstream vehicles to see them all go away, and have the brand stagnate on two ancient cars, and an also pretty old SUV. Dodge has until 2031 to flesh out its product line, and become a competitive full-line automaker brand once again like it used to be pre-2009- along with Chrysler. Carlos Tavares gave them 10 years back in 2021 to get it done. Dodge has reinvented itself 4 times just in my lifetime, I don’t see them having any issue doing it again; they always pull it off. Each time they’ve gone in a completely different direction to capture success, and will likely do the same this go around.

The Dodge brand has been neglected for some time now, starting first with FCA and now with Stellantis. I would not be surprised if it disappears entirely. The Hornet, a badge-engineered Alfa, will not sell well. The Hellcat legacy, while a smart way to bring attention to the brand, was never going to translate to volume sales. Electrification and the Dodge customer base seems like a non-starter. Ram was the best avenue to keep the Dodge brand name alive and they unnecessarily separated a generation ago. The new Dart came and went. Lots of missteps and no clear path to growth ahead. In the end, I blame this all on Bob Eaton, the Chrysler chief who sold a rising Chrysler to Daimler Benz, falsely advertised as a "merger of equals". Chrysler was making great cars then under the direction of Bob Lutz and Tom Gale. The Daimler acquisition was a failure, Chrysler was sold to a private equity company Cerberus, mismanaged again, sold to FCA and then sold yet again to Stellantis, a company with too many brands in its portfolio. At this point, Dodge has been reduced to numbers on a spreadsheet on a finance guy's desk and it ain't looking good.
