Ironically, it was one of the only guys that John trusts in the business, who produced all John's major albums, that introduced him to the band, and now that same guy, Don Was, now plays with Bobby in the Wolf Bros. I guess the good folks in that business all find their way to each other in one way or another.

Wow! I've been impressed with John's playing since the first appearances stepping into Jerry's shoes. But this recording of Jack straw leads me to recognize his true brilliance, where he embodies Jerry-esque style and takes it into his own realm. I can't imagine another band that is as musically gifted in live performances as this group who are clearly exhibiting the joy of what they're bringing to the world.

I’ve been a fan of JM’s guitar playing since his first album and when Mayer was announced as lead for Dead and Co, I thought to myself, yes, he is the perfect fit. Staunch deadheads wouldn’t see it at first , but they’ll get what the rest of his fans already knew: JM is a multi-dimensional high caliber musician. He said many times that he always wanted to be “IN” a band. Not just leading his own. Bobby was right to follow his instinct. And JM looks so happy playing these songs. Like a puppy. And of course Oteil and Jeff are such great choices too. God bless these guys.

@kp45883 жыл бұрын
I was one of those who absolutely hated John Mayer. When he joined Dead & Co, a bunch of my friends wanted to go see them play. I refused because I considered Mayer to be some teenybopper chick’s music. I was certain that Jerry was rolling in his grave at the thought that Mayer had taken his place. Fast forward to a post Covid world (not so sure about that now), my cousin came out for the Halloween shows at the Hollywood Bowl ‘21. I reluctantly decided to go because I haven’t seen any live music in 2 years and wanted to get out. We saw 2 of the 3 shows. Within a couple of songs in the 1st night, my opinion on John Mayer instantly changed. I have never done a 180 degree turn on someone so fast. I had such a great experience on both nights that I decided to listen to some more of Mayers solo work and am blown away. I’m now convinced that John is not only a great musician and guitar player but also the smartest man on the planet for joining up with the Dead. What a great experience to go to those shows with my cousin and getting a new perspective on music, life and the Grateful Dead. I’ve also gained a new respect for Mayer and his incredible talent. I can’t wait to go to the next show!

Welcome to the show. Jack straw is definitely one of those powerhouses that can be magnetic to those aware and unaware alike, and is one of those unique experiences that leaves you both immensely satisfied but also needing more. The Dead is very special in the way that there will be songs that you aren't very interested in, but as time goes along you get drawn into them, one by one as you go through life and personal growth. I'm 32 also and there are songs that just a year ago I would skip, but today I can't get enough of. It's a quite unique experience, on top of the fact that to begin with no song is the exact same twice, giving a new experience every single damn time.
