There's nothing quite like seeing Dead & Company live on a hot summer night in the company of thousands of friends and family. We know, and we hope to see you on the road soon! But for the in-between moments, the cold winter nights, and the slow days at work, the official Dead & Company KZbin channel is here as a souvenir of the musical magic that Bob, Mickey, Bill, John, Oteil, and Jeff make on stage. We'll be uploading new videos every Wednesday and Friday to complement our live album releases on Fridays. Subscribe now so you don’t miss a thing! While you’re here, drop us a line in the comments and let us know how you're feeling, share our videos with other heads, and most importantly, keep on groovin' until we meet again....
If you can't make it to a show, join the party from home with the live webcast from nugs.TV livedead.co/
Dead & Company was formed in 2015 when the Grateful Dead’s Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann and Bob Weir joined forces with artist and musician John Mayer, Allman Brothers’ bassist Oteil Burbridge, and Fare Thee Well and RatDog keyboardist Jeff Chimenti. The result was one of the most successful touring bands of the decade. The inaugural tour kicked off in the fall of 2015 with two sold-out shows at the legendary Madison Square Garden in New York City and ended with two sold-out performances at the ‘Fabulous’ Forum in Inglewood, California.
Since then, the band has completed five tours, playing to more than 1.5 million fans, and has become a record-breaking stadium act. Dead & Company has headlined iconic stadiums across the country including Folsom Field, Autzen Stadium, Citi Field, Fenway Park and Dodger Stadium. Additionally, the band broke Wrigley Field’s all-time concert attendance record in 2017. Dead & Company’s 2018 Summer Tour ranked in the top 25 of the Top 100 Worldwide Tours and for the past two years, their Summer Tours ranked in the top 15 of the Top Global Concert Tours.

Exactly on point. He seems far more mature now thanks to them. As he stated in some interviews, Dead & co is about the band and the legacy, he has a part in it but it isn't all about him. I feel like this experience is his dream come true somehow. He's always been a blues old rock player turned into pop singer because you can't have a career in rock as you could have in the 70s. Dead & co is a way for him to get into the time machine and enjoy what he could have been back then when rock bands ruled the Earth. His last album has some great nods to his Dead playing. Wild Blue especially. People think about Knopfler but honestly, I feel he wouldn't have written such a tune had he not toured with the Dead.

It has certainly humbled him. I think it's Mayer at his finest, and what's ironic is he had to take less of a frontman position to get there. He had to learn how to be a part of a band. He had to lessen himself to make himself more...

I wasn't a fan of lil johnny until I took a chance on him, seeing him perform with Dead & Co. totally changed my view of him...simply because the way he plays, he truly shreds strings, 6-17-19 at Deer Creek, i was lucky enough to dose and i was taken back to the 90's, with much praise to the boys in the band, dream come true to see Bobby on stage! Ear opening to hear lil johnny play too, you made me a believer, ty for not playing body is a wonderland, that wouldve ruined it lol

Love seeing Mayer just being happy to play, I heard him say live that he “just writes pop songs to sell because blues isnt in the market or on the radio to make a living, but loves blues most” and it shows. He is a very competent musician and its funny when teens see him live and wonder why he solos for 10mn instead of singing the whole time.
@ukelyptus
@ukelyptus 2 жыл бұрын
I mean give the teens some credit here-they were mayer fans way before deadheads embraced him! Personally I didn't know much about him until dead & co. and now that I've given his pop stuff a try I like a lot of it too, even if he doesn't claim it it's pretty great in its own right

No Jerry. As we fade away. Soon all witnesses will be dead and gone. Deadheads tell no tales. Only the vinyl and grainy video may survive. My brother cried when he heard this song. I cried watching him cry. Going to where those chilly winds don't blow. God speed to your wishes. A song about what you have and what you want. Driven out into the cold rain and snow. No man can survive. Beauty in front of you preening. No respect. The trouble lies in you.

... Everyone's singing the praises here of the esteemed Mr. Mayer. I've always liked his playing from when he first hit the scene as a very young Gunslinger'... Being a veteran of nearly 100 Shows (w/ Jerry), and a handful Post-Jerry i find this a bit disappointing. This is the first time i've seen anything w/ John Mayer standing next to Bobby and Co. - so this is fresh perspective... C. R. + Snow was always a personal favorite - i've played it with my buddies' many times. I remember it mostly as an "opener" so maybe it was on this night ?? Might explain why John was reaching down dialing-in his effects pedals. And also why it seems a bit "stiff" at first - he really gets going (and warmed-up) after a bit... Obviously an amazing guitarist with mad skills, but seems a bit "ordinary" to me here - i expected More. (Someone mentioned "Clapton"), so yeah, chucking Clapton riff's w/ Bobby standing next to you and Hart and Kreutzmann' in back is pretty Ordinary. I would have expected a man of his talent and skills to do a little "homework" and capture more of Jerry's unique phrasing and style, rather than throw out all the same riffs' i heard not too long ago at the "Blind Faith" Re-Union. Oh Well... So yeah, great guitarist, one really sweet PRS guitar; nice amp-stack out back, playing great, no doubt: - just lacks something for this old-timer that misses ole' Captain Trips' a bit too much. At least John's eyes look a bit "glassy" - so he was having fun and his mind was in the right place !! ~ To everyone singing his praises, i apologize for sending a realistic cold-rain down on your Parade !!

John is great, but what is all this stuff about him having Jerrys tone with the PRS, NOT EVEN CLOSE.

Jerry Garcia's tone was definitely a singular thing born of his unique style, custom gear and of course fhe chemistry between him and the people he was playing with. That said, i think PRS built a damn fine guitar that i think captures the spirit of jerry garcias various custom built guitars...while at the same time giving jon mayer something he was happy with. I think thus guitar can serve as a sort of symbol for what jon mayer has done in D&C. Faithful and meticulously studiy of the source material while staying true to itself and the spirit of innovation and evolution that was such a big part of the Grateful Deads sound.

John came in with his guitar, not Jerry's. He'd his own artist, with his own style. He is not trying to be jerry or play his style. That is what a true artist does. That being said O HOW I MISS JERRY.
