Deadlift from 8/18/2012. I attempt heavy singles two or three times a year, and this was one of those days. My goal for 2012 was to pull 405 pounds. After warming up with weights up to 315, I did complete a single with 405. However, my grip was slipping on my right hand, so I was not able to maintain the bar motionless after lockout. That first lift would not have passed at a meet with any sort of reasonable judging standards.
Because 405 did not feel maximal, I added 10 pounds for the second and final lift which is shown above. It was a good lift with no grip problems. Bodyweight today was 157.
I see my hips rising before the bar leaves the floor, suggesting that my quad strength continues to lag relative to the posterior chain. Based on that I will continue with my existing assistance exercise program.
