Don’t know if it helps, but for the singles I have 1inch toppers that roll up small with a bungee round. I’ve made covers from single duvet covers, they don’t slip on the bed and dead easy to change change half as many times as sheets as they have two sides! It’s a dream to roll out and set beds up. Great video as always

we got 2 boys and our last van we had to put beds up and it was a pain when we was all tired and ratty I had to play van jenga to get to sleep mode so van build number 2 all beds are fixed and would never go back if I was you guys I would buy a bus and convert it to your speck with fixed beds you would never look back it's the best feeling to pull up and get in to a already made bed 🙂

Steve we are going to do the gross Glocknar ? Can we do it without the go box. Did you buy a go box? It looks unbelievable Steve Lyndsey if I stay over night on the Gross Glockner do I have to pay the 40 euro toll again the next day when we get to the other end or is it a 24 hr ticket What town was the small theme park in. That would be a good break for my 7year old granddaughter? Steve any advice for my 5 tonne Kontiki will be most appreciated
@RoamingRadfords Жыл бұрын
We just avoid motorways and you’ll be fine. The small theme park is at the bottom of the grossglockner right next to the tolls
@RoamingRadfords Жыл бұрын
And you just pay when you enter the tolls for the grossglockner road, I guess you could stay for a couple of nights and only pay for the entry

Fair bit of weight in the kontiki to go over the pass, can't you get heavy duty/ completion style pads for such a trip.
@RoamingRadfords2 жыл бұрын
We could probably put better pads on and may well do when these are worn but a stop half way down would have been the easy answer for next time.

Like you we love driving mountain roads. We moved to Spain in 2006. We love it because it has so many mountains. We spent 1mth in 2018 2 mths in 2020 6wks in 2021 and 4 wks this year in the Spanish and French Pyrennes. We have Sierra Nevada a couple of hrs from where we live and we can look out from our flat and see the snow there. Other mountains all around us at Marbella and Ronda 10mins/40mins from home. Plus the one's in the north of Spain that we did this yr. Mountains everywhere. Just love them. But there is an art to driving them. Use your gearbox and you will have no troubles.

Wow that was scary, listening to you talk about the road conditions and a none working handbrake, as well as spongy main brakes!! if i was scared watching it what must the boys have been thinking hearing this from the back? it must be tricky trying to balance parenting while making dramatic content...
@howarddavies66852 жыл бұрын
Come down in the same gear that you would go up in.👍 Save your brakes for when you really need them.
@RoamingRadfords2 жыл бұрын
Good advice Howard, but a 5 tonne motorhome won’t come down these mountain roads with gears alone and require a steady pumping on and off the brakes in order to scrub the speed off.
